Wedding March, II

Mary E. Coe
The wedding is over
Their new life has just begun
But, my whole world
has just crumbled to an end
It's hard, but, I must go on
from day to day
Without the man I love
somehow, I'll find the way

some say that time
will heal this aching in my heart
But, oh, will time
Also, take away the scar?
that my loved one placed upon
my heart, the day he said I do?
Will time promise me
This hurting won't forever be?

Each night I cried
Teardrops from my eyes like rain
Not even tears
could ease the agony and pain
Each night, I cried
Oh, how could this wedding be?
The bridegroom was right, but
The bride, it should have been me

Ten years gone by
So long, I've had no need to cry
A handsome spouse
And a precious baby boy
They fill my life
With such love and with such joy
It's so clear for me to see

The bridge groom was right
And this time the bride was me.

As Garth Brooks sang, "I thank God for UNANSWERED prayers!" Very good!

How sweet. Amazing when we look back, what we thought was the worst thing possible turned out to be the best!

Hi Kay, No, it isn't autobiographical. There is a part one to this poem.Years ago something similiar happened to a co-worker of mine. She skipped the wedding. I wrote part two hoping she met someone else and it ended this way for her.
