Wedding Nail Trends for Brides and Bridesmaids

How you wear your nails for your wedding is very important. Your hands will be center stage as everyone is looking at your ring in the reception line. Your manicure is as important of an accessory as your bouquet or your veil. Read on to find out what the nail trends are now and how to update the traditional styles.

White tipped French manicures are about as classic as a bride's nails can get. However there are ways you can make the style your own. Try doing the tips in a different color to match your wedding theme colors or add sparkle and shimmer to the topcoat of the clear polish. Try rounded tips instead of square for a more natural look.

Short nails are very popular right now. They are less expensive than acrylic or gel nails and easier to maintain. Make sure they are all the same length and perfectly polished to fit the special occasion.

For a dramatic look try a bold color. Dark colors like plum, charcoal and chocolate didn't used to be acceptable, but anything goes now. Matte colors have been trendy but shine is coming back. If your favorite polish is matte then just use a really glossy topcoat to finish the look. Metallic colors are also a great choice. You can get everything from pale pastels to rich hues in metallic finishes.

If you are using red roses in your bouquet then you can definitely pull off red nails. Just make sure you keep them short to avoid looking garish.

For a more natural and demure look try pale pinks, ivory and beiges. Colors that are close to your skin tone have a way of visually lengthening your fingers making them appear long and graceful. If you are wearing a simple or traditional dress neutral colors will look very nice. You can afford to wear your nails a little longer with these shades. Rounded tips are also more flattering if you are trying to lengthen short fingers.

If you would like to wear white fingernail polish avoid flat white and opt for something translucent or pearly. This look can be very elegant and bridal.

Bridesmaids can either match the bride or be completely different. Nails look nice if they match the dress, but at least make sure the colors coordinate.

The rest of your hands are important too. Make sure your cuticles are healthy by starting a moisturizing routine at least a month before the weddings. Use a good lotion that is not greasy on your hands so that they are soft and feminine. Many people will be looking at and touching your hands on your wedding day.
