Wedding Photo Centerpiece Craft Project

This simple little photograph inspired candle votive reminds me of a Japanese rice screen. It has simple lines and works well with any photos of the bride and groom. You can make these simple wedding candle votives in varying heights and make an entire centerpiece for your wedding reception tables.

Try making odd numbers of these simple candle votives. Make one tall, two medium, and two short candle votives to make a wedding centerpiece. Simply place the tallest candle votive in the center of the wedding reception table. Surround with the remaining four candle votives.

To Make These Rice Screen Inspired Candle Votives For your Wedding Reception Centerpieces You Will Need:

Photos (black and white will work best)

Small wood trim

Paint

Hot glue

Small hand saw

The first step is to find the small wood trim. It is about ¼ inch wide and can be found in the wood trim aisle at yoru local home improvement store.

The small wedding photo center piece I am making will be 10 inches tall, but you will easily be able to change these dimensions on your own.

Now, you will need 4 10 inch pieces of this wood trim for one wedding centerpiece. You will need 8 5 inch pieces.

Now, take your paint and paint each piece of wood. You can use any color you want to match your wedding. Silver and gold paint is also an option here and will add a touch of elegance to your wedding candle votives.

Now, while these pieces are drying you need to take some photos of the bride and groom to the local Kinko's. Print the photos out onto sheets of acetate or any transparent paper your local copy store has.

Now, to assemble the candle votive frames simple hot glue four of the 5 inch pieces into a square. Repeat with the remaining four 5 inch pieces so you have 2 square.

Now, glue the four 10 inch pieces in vertically to form a large "cube."

Now, measure the width and height of each side.

Cut out four photos from yoru copied photos on the acetate to these sizes.

Use the hot glue to adhere them on the inside of the candle votive.

If you are on a tight budget, then try replacing the clear photocopies photographs with white rice paper.

Now, use some black or silver or gold picture corners to adhere the photos to the rice paper.

You could also have yoru photos printed onto white paper and line the wedding candle votives that way.
