Wedding photo booths have become very popular over the last couple of years. It makes for great entertainment for the guests. There are a few different types of wedding photo booths out there and numerous companies that provide this unique service. For those of you on a small budget for your reception, consider making your own wedding photo booth.

A company called The Wedding Photobooth is based on the east coast but it can be flown to any state. For $1100, you will get the complete setup with unlimited coverage. Your guests will stand in front of a large white screen facing a camera on a tripod. The guests will have a remote control button to push to take their picture and then the photo will instantly be displayed on the white screen. This is a really cool feature because all the guests in the venue can see the photos as they are displayed on the large screen. This can be very entertaining!

Party Booths is a company that provides actual private photo booths. Having an actual booth that guests can step into and pull the curtain for privacy is a nice feature that allows your guests to be as silly as they want without all eyes on them. Booth rental starts at $645 for two hours (restrictions apply) and they provide nationwide service. Visit their website for up to date pricing and information.

DIY photo booth is the cheapest way to go. You can set up your own do it yourself photo booth indoors or outdoors. Set up a fabric or paper backdrop to one side of your venue where you can eliminate people walking in the background. Place a table next to the photo booth area with instructions on how to use your photo booth. You could also place camera's on the table for guests to use to take pictures of each other. Disposable cameras work well although most people tend to lean towards digital cameras. You could place a digital camera on the table with extra memory cards and designate a place to put the memory cards that are full so that they do not get lost. Ask a member of your wedding party to keep an eye on the photo booth station and check the digital camera from time to time to make sure it is working properly and check the memory card.

If you can swing it, it would be easier if you could designate one person to take photos using a digital camera. Or you can ask your wedding party to take turns being the photo booth photographer. Make a schedule to block out times for your wedding party to take turns depending on the length of time your reception is scheduled for and the number of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Try to limit the amount of time each person is taking pictures to 30 minutes or less so that everyone can enjoy as much as the festivities as possible. Switching people taking photographs every 15 minutes would be ideal. And don't forget to have a backup digital camera and batteries!

Make your do-it-yourself wedding photo booth extra special by adding fun props for guests to use in the photos such as wigs, hats, swords, etc. Another fun idea is to have a dry erase board or chalk board that guests can write messages on and hold when they are getting their photo taken. When you send out your thank you cards to your guests after your big day consider adding a photograph of them from the reception as a keepsake.
