Wedding Planner: Choosing a Wedding Venue

John Vann
A wedding is an important part in both a man and a woman's life; not to mention the families of both, and there are a lot of things to be considered. Arrangements need to be made for everything from flowers, decorations and food, and reservations need to be placed for a reception hall and of course, the wedding venue itself. Many couples choose to stick with the traditional method of marriage, and have their wedding held in a church. While this is a great place to hold your wedding ceremony, more and more couples are choosing to hold their weddings in other places.

Some of the more common venues in which to hold a wedding include arenas, theatres, stadiums or parks - but of course nearly any establishment or location will do. However, there are some important considerations to be taken into account when choosing your ideal wedding venue.

First and foremost is the accessibility of your venue, as well as the maximum occupancy, as well. You'll want to make sure the wedding venue is easy for your guest to find, and that you provide them with simple to follow directions. If you are expecting any handicapped or disabled guests to attend your wedding, you'll want to take that into account, too. If your wedding is held in a park, or if you are otherwise planning a small wedding, occupancy is not that big of an issue. But for weddings with hundreds or thousands of guests however, not every place will do.

Large scale weddings sometimes require that you rent out a small arena, stadium, or local theatre. These can be fantastic, unique locations to hold a wedding - but of course costs can be quite high. Typically however, many extra amenities are included when renting a venue of this type. Things like chairs, tables, and a public address system will most often be included in the rental price - and they may even be willing to cater your wedding, or provide additional services, as well.

Now of course, you can use the World Wide Web to the majority of your research and wedding planning - the internet is also a great source to find out more information on choosing a possible venue. While many sites provide pictures, and maybe even some video footage of their sites and locations, you should always make sure to visit the venue in person before making that final decision. Both the bride and groom should check out the venue to make sure that is exactly what they want - and the reverend should also familiarize him or herself with the venue before the big day, too.
