Wedding that Shouldn't

Jazmine Loyd
Desperation fills the air,
Guests hearts fill with despair.
What should be a happy time,
Feels more like a crime.

Wedding bells start to ring,
The church choir begins to sing.
One last call to to make a plea,
Mom, please! It is ok to be free!

As the bride walks down the isle,
Her family wishes it were a mile.
To see her happy would be just great,
but they know his heart is full of hate.

To marry him once again,
Should simply be a sin.
Soon it will be her heart that fills with such pain,
that the tears will fall just like rain.

There was one like this in our family. The good news was that it lasted only 3 years.
