Wedding Table Centerpiece Ideas for Your Spring Wedding

Susie Lee
Spring is a beautiful time to get married and to have a wedding. Flowers are starting to bloom and everything is fresh and pretty. You can capture the beauty of spring at your wedding reception in your table centerpieces and decorations.

Deciding on Colors:
Spring brings to mind pastel colors and delicate blooms. You can embrace this image and use pretty light pinks, yellows and lavenders in your centerpieces or you can break from tradition and use brighter hues. Think about using bright grassy green, lemon yellow and bubblegum pink. For a more formal and elegant look you can go with white on white motifs with just an accent of French blue. The exact palette is up to you. Make sure you pick something you love and that shows off your unique taste.

Choosing Containers:
The key to having a successful spring theme at your wedding is to pick things that are light and airy. Avoid dark and heavy containers that will be a distraction. Some fun options are glass containers in either a square or cylinder shape. Baskets are a more causal and fun alternative. White pots and vases can be either ceramic for an elegant look or white washed pottery for some country charm. Talk to your florist or decorator about what containers they have available for centerpieces. If you don't like any of their options you can either buy some of your own at a craft store or rent them from your local rental company. Renting them will be cheaper and you won't have to figure out what to do with them once your wedding is over.

Picking Flowers:
During the spring months there are many options for flowers. Talk to your florist to see what is in season. By choosing flowers that are easily available during the time of your wedding you will save money. Centerpieces can range from loosely gathered bunches of wildflowers to elaborate floral designs. The larger and more ornate your centerpiece the more it will cost. Luckily spring is a perfect time to use simple and fresh designs. If you have chosen colors that don't have flowers to match use ribbon. Fill your container with white blooms and incorporate ribbon into the design or tie a bow around the vase.

Alternatives to Flowers:
You don't have to use flowers for your centerpieces. Fruit or berries can be really unique. Tall glass containers can be filled with bright citrus fruit. Strawberries can be gathered in baskets. Bear grass is a great non-floral plant to try. The long green grass spears can be looped into designed and gathered into containers. Candy is a whimsical option. At each table fill three containers with candy like Skittles, custom colored M&M's or any round colored candy. Poke a flower, real or fake, into each jar.

Other Ideas:
Remember that there are no rules about you can use when it comes to wedding table centerpieces. There are just a few things to keep in mind. Make sure that the height of the table display does not interfere with guests being able to see each other. Choose table linens that coordinate with your centerpieces. If your venue doesn't have tablecloths that will work you can rent them from a rental company. The most important thing to remember is that your wedding table centerpieces should be a reflection of your personality and coordinate with the theme of your wedding. Have fun and enjoy finding the perfect decorations for your spring wedding.
