Nowadays, some brides and grooms may find that transporting certain friends and family members may become a hassle. Some families may be blended, dysfunctional, or downright argumentative with each other and may not be willing to share the same transportation to and from your wedding. So what is a bride and groom to do?
If you can afford it, offer quarreling families separate transportation to avoid any mishaps on your big day. If not, suggest that they drive their own vehicles to and from the ceremony and reception. By separating problematic friends and family in tight spaces, like a vehicle, you may avoid major blowouts on your big day.
Some brides and grooms also have family traveling from out of town, or opt to get married at a location far from home. This may pose a transportation issue for guests who cannot afford the journey to your wedding. If funding is a problem for them, see if you can arrange carpooling with other friends and family from out of town for your guests. Also, research flight and car rental deals for them to show them how to get the best deals.
Nowadays, wedding ceremonies and receptions are often in two different places. If keeping your wedding party together and not getting people lost is an issue for you, consider renting vans or a shuttle service to get your guests from one place to another. If your wedding ceremony and reception are in the same location, but on other ends of the property, renting golf carts may also be an option. This is also a thoughtful gesture for guests who cannot walk long distances.
Thinking about using an extraordinary method of transportation on your wedding day? Make sure that it coincides with the rules of the location of your ceremony and reception. Make sure that golf carts, horse drawn carriages and even motorcycles are allowed on the property of your locations before your big day. You may be facing big fines or problems during your wedding if you don't ask first.
Also, consider whether or not the type of transportation you use is sensible or works with the plan of your wedding. Sure, it would be cool to ride off into the sunset on a motorcycle, but it could also wreak havoc on an expensive wedding dress or rented tux. The same can be said for convertibles, so choose your mode of transportation wisely. Riding in on horseback can also be very romantic and dramatic, but is probably not best for first time riders, as animals are, by their nature, apt to have a mind of their own.
Whatever you decide, remember that the more helpful you are in getting your guests to and from the ceremony and reception, the more likely they will be to come. In the end, the most important transportation is for the bride and the groom, so let quarreling family members or bothersome guests take care of their own transportation.
