Wedding Trend: Spring 2010 Bridal Gowns

J. Darling
With spring just around the corner, women still in the planning stages for their wedding day are looking for the latest styles in bridal gowns. The latest trends for spring wedding dresses include glamorous gowns with various embellishments, 50's elegance, A-line dresses, mermaid gowns, illusion straps, gowns with a hint of color or metallic hues, and lots of tulle.

A-line gowns feature a fitted bodice but begin to flow outward as it reaches the ground. Because the gown isn't as fitted around the hips, the style is flattering on women of practically every body shape. David's Bridal offers a variety of A-line wedding dresses, such as this one for $249 which also has a sweetheart neckline and beading.

With everything in full bloom, spring dresses with a hint of color are becoming popular. Gowns such as this red-accented one, also at David's, feature color integrated into the design. A subtle addition of color to a white or champagne gown could be done through a sash around the waist. This Alfred Angelo A-line gown has a black sash as well as a stunning ruffled skirt.

Illusion sleeves or necklines feature a sheer fabric and are found commonly with halter style gowns, as seen in this Sophia Tolli Couture dress and this gown at David's Bridal.

Retro glamour is also a popular theme for Spring 2010, and here is a link to an article written specifically on where to find vintage-inspired gowns.

There is also a spotlight on embellishments and intricate detailing on gowns. This romantic Galina Signature gown has a beaded bodice and pleated skirt. This Oleg Cassini gown incorporates several trends: metallic color, beading, and a unique skirt. This Divina Sposa Couture gown is a little on the expensive side but has gorgeous details such as a rosette at the waist and a floral embellishment on the bodice.

Mermaid gowns differ from A-line gowns in that they begin to flare at the knee rather than the waistline, as shown in this Eden Bridals dress and this Val Stefani gown.

Metals are popular for Spring 2010, as seen in this Nicole Miller dress and this Demetrios metallic silver gown. There are also plenty of options for brides who wish to add just a touch of metal into their wedding gowns, such as this Piccone gown which has metallic embroidery at the bodice.

    I didn't think I'd like the metallic silver...but it's really pretty.
