Wedding Trends: Spring Wedding Favor Ideas

J. Darling
With the spring wedding season upon us, brides and grooms are tediously planning out all the details of their nuptials, hoping to put together an event that not only celebrates their love, but will be entertaining and enjoyable for their guests. Giving out wedding favors is a popular way for couples to thank guests for their support and attendance. Spring is the season typically associated with new beginnings and decorated with all the bold and bright colors of fresh flora and fauna. Why not incorporate a spring theme into wedding favors?

For spring weddings, particularly outdoor ceremonies, guests will enjoy taking home favors containing fresh flowers, flower or herb garden seed kits, and other garden-themed souvenirs. These miniature topiaries do double-duty as place card holders. Other ideas for spring favors with place card-holding capabilities include cardholders shaped like birds, butterflies, and flowers, which are all popular for spring wedding decor. Place card holders can be elegant in a silver metallic finish or colored, like these from My Wedding Favors, but if you want to incorporate more color into your reception decor, you could purchase place card holders in vibrant bold spring colors or pastels. Another spring wedding trend is giving out personalized flower seed or mini-herb pots for wedding favors. American Bridal sells a variety of "Earth Friendly Wildflower Wedding Favor Bags" which can be customized to match your color scheme and personalized with wedding information. Wedding Things sells several "seedy" spring wedding favors. Their decorative heart or butterfly seed place cards and wildflower seed favors can also be personalized. Instead of purchasing a kit already assembled, these kinds of favors can be created in a small terracotta pot or a personalized flowerpot or other container, like this miniature watering can from Beau-Coup. Giving favors that guests can enjoy watching grow and bloom is a great way to help celebrate your wedding.

There are also many options available for spring themed containers, which could be filled with other wedding favors. American Bridal sells this elegant Flower Box Wedding Favor, which could also be used as a centerpiece. Favor boxes that would fit a spring wedding theme include those shaped like watering cans, Calla Lily Mini-Pails, and other boxes or containers decorated with flowers, birds, and butterflies. Beau-coup carries a miniature bird's nest made of twigs, which would fit a spring wedding theme perfectly and could contain egg-shaped Jordan almonds. Plain galvanized metal miniature favor pails from a home improvement or craft store could be spruced up with the addition of a colorful ribbon and bow. Inside the favor box or pail, treat guests to Jordan almonds, Amorini hearts, or pastel candy.

Edible and food-related favors are always crowd pleasers. For a vineyard or outdoor wedding, whimsical bottle stoppers in the shape of flowers like this one and this one from My Wedding Favors would make excellent gifts for guests or the wedding party. Brides and grooms who don't like the brightly colored bottle stoppers could give bottle stoppers in plain metallic finishes. Miniature gourmet oil, vinegar, or wine bottles with personalized labels would also be fantastic spring vineyard wedding favors. Many wedding supply companies sell favors which can be personalized and customized to match your spring wedding colors like mint tins, bottled water, chocolate bars, fortune cookies, honey jars, and cookies. Decorative gourmet "Garden Wave" dipped brownies from My Wedding Favors are sure to amaze and delight your guests. Another fun edible way to celebrate a spring wedding is to serve butterfly, bird, or flower shaped cookies at the reception or package in cellophane bags for guests to take home. Sugar cookies are great for cut-out cookies, and can be easily made with a few supplies from your grocery and hobby store.

Whether you plan to purchase your favors or go the do-it-yourself route, there are many options available when choosing your spring wedding favors. Spring is the time for new beginnings, and how better to thank your guests than with a seasonal favor that will remind them of the start of your new life together?
