Even though it is usually the bride that we see doing most of the planning, etc. some grooms are also having to make decisions about who will be invited, where they are all going to stay, how will they get there, who can carry what, etc. And both the bride and the groom tend to think they can take on all of the "brawn and brains" activities while also partying till the wee hours continuously for weeks while having 15 visitors staying at your house, including two extra dogs, a cat and an iguana from New Jersey.
Here are some of the things you may want for the Do it Yourself List:
If you don't absolutely have to have a limo; be creative with your choice of vehicle and maybe stress less and use a friends large SUV or sometimes people you know may have a more fun classic car
If you know how to do your own make up go for it; you may be happier because you know what you can and can't wear with tears or dancing till midnight
You really should keep the "people arranging" on your list to do; because it is a very personal choice and arrangement
Here are the items you really should stay away from:
Photography and video (even if you are a pro; do you want to work/stress all day or have a wedding?)
Flowers (again, even if you are a florist, don't stress yourself out when you don't have to)
Caterer (There are way too many out there for a great deal; it is far too much trouble to do this yourself)
Taxi to all of your Guests (Put someone else in charge; how many stories have we heard about transporting everyone on your wedding day going wrong)
In conclusion: your wedding day should not be a stressed out, overworked, over thought, over planned, event. The more you try to control and do yourself on the day of your wedding; the more you are courting disaster because it is too hard to pack it all into one day and an evening and also try to do everything yourselves when you really don't have to if you can just be creative and also give others permission to be creative.
