Wee Hours of the Morning

The city does not seem to sleep because people just come and go until the wee hours of the morning. The city lights do not seem to get any dimmer as the time gets so late into the night. The plaza embraces all those who linger about seeking absolute solace under its calming trees till they see the very early morning sunshine.

I know of one who has maintained an early morning routine up to her seventies. She never fails to greet the wee hours of the morning with a prayer after reading her Bible, a cup of milk and a simple breathing exercise. There has never been a time that the sun rises before she gets out of bed. She is my grandma.

In contrast, I have friends who never sleep till its late afternoon. They work way beyond the wee hours of the morning. In fact, they seldom greet the very early morning sunshine in their line of work. Caught in the web of deadlines and updates in an attempt to broaden their perspectives, their early morning routine is defined as work, work, and work.

Does it even matter what you do in the wee hours of the morning? I do not think so. As long as your mind, body and soul are still connected to each other. So much so that you can still enjoy your friend's silly jokes and sometimes the not so silly ones. Then, it is not much loss to miss the very early morning sunshine just a few steps away from your office room.

The "reflections or introspections of life stuff" usually are most effective when done in the wee hours of the morning. Just like that. But who cares if you will do it in the afternoon or late at night? Who is keeping count, anyway? Your wee hours of the morning are your own. And I enjoyed my very early morning sunshine not so often. I have my early morning routine set in a "variety" mode. I guess it is like saying I do not have one. Well, you are right. I am yet to make one. Especially, that the Christmas Eve and New Years Eve are fast approaching, I just got to make time to enjoy life up to the wee hours of the morning.
