In August 2006, Jenji Kohan and Showtime once again knock one out of the park with their hit series Weeds. In this series, they've decided to change up their opening theme song, "Little Boxes" by Malvina Reynolds. Each episode in series 2 features the song remade by a different artist, including Elvis Costello, Regina Spektor, Engelbert Humperdinck, Death Cab For Cutie and more. Rap artist Snoop Dogg also makes an appearance in episode 8, where he is in the studio recording a new song for the show.

With more plot twists and surprise turns than a daytime soap opera, Weeds Season 2 constantly leaves you guessing and never disappoints. The new season starts right where season 1 left off, with Nancy wearing Peter's (Martin Donovan) DEA jacket at his house. When she finds his badge and gun, Peter obviously has no choice but to admit to his top secret profession.

While this is going on, Nancy is making plans with Conrad (Romany Malco) to get rid of the bakery front and start a large marijuana growing operation. But Conrad is not happy when he finds out about her DEA boyfriend - partly because he is jealous and wants Nancy for himself, but also because he is scared that he will be busted by Peter and the DEA. So he leaves Nancy to fend for herself, while he pursues somebody to invest his grow house.

Andy, Nancy's brother-in-law who is played by Justin Kirk, is trying to avoid getting shipped off to fight in Iraq - he pretends to be interested in becoming a Rabbi, and tries out a few other quirky ideas as well. Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) decides to run for Doug's (Kevin Nealon) open position on the city council, while her husband, Dean Hodes (Andy Milder) is the campaign manager for Doug Wilson.

Suddenly Sanjay (Maulik Pancholy), an employee at the fake bakery and a member of Nancy's drug ring, decides to take matters into his own hands and burn down the bakery for his boss. This allows Nancy the opportunity to start her own growing operation with the insurance money. She is unsuccessful however, and calls Conrad back to help.

Conrad agrees, though the operation will have to go behind his aunt Heylia's (Tonye Patano) back - while she is a dealer herself she does not approve of growing marijuana. Nancy decides it is best that she break off her relationship with Peter. When she tells him, however he makes it quite difficult, if not impossible by letting her know that he knows she is a drug dealer. Instead of breaking off their relationship, the couple secretly flies to Las Vegas to get married. This way Peter can never be made to testify in court against his wife.

With the help of CPA/city council member Doug Wilson, Nancy and Conrad secure a house for growing - but soon find their neighbors, an Armenian drug ring, is anything but appreciative of the new business in town. Nancy has it taken care of however, and all is well when her new husband Peter removes the threat with the help of his DEA co-workers.

When Dean Hodes forgets to put Doug Wilson's name on the ballot for re-election, his own wife, Celia Hodes wins Doug's position on the city council. She vows to turn Agrestic into a drug free neighborhood by installing video cameras and drug free zone signs. Soon, out of spite, she ends up becoming sexually involved with Doug Wilson.
