Week 1 - QB Rankings
1. Peyton Manning - Ind = @Hou
In what could easily be the best offensive shootout to kick off opening week, the Colts air attack should be out in full force this week. It would not be surprising to see a total of 70 plus points scored in this game, as both the Texans and Colts defenses are merely average. Manning could easily pass for 300-350 yards and 2-3 touchdowns. By far the safest starting QB in all fantasy football leagues for week 1.
2. Aaron Rodgers - GB = @Phi
The Eagles defense does not pose to be the easiest of matchups for Rodgers this week, but considering how good the Packers offense looked in the preseason, there is little reason to think that Rodgers will not tally at least 250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns. Numbers in the range of 250-300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns is very likely.
3. Matt Schaub - Hou = Ind
Not that we really want to take into account preseason games, but if it means anything at all, the Colts defense looked downright atrocious against opponents passing attacks during all of their preseason games. In what could easily be an offensive shootout with Peyton Manning and the Colts offense, Schaub offers outstanding upside for a huge stat line in week 1. 300-350 passing yards and 2-3 touchdowns is possible. However even though Schaub could tally better stats than Rodgers, I do not want to be the one who benches Rodgers on my team. So assuming you even have the option of starting Rodgers or Schaub on the same team, I would still go with Rodgers.

4. Drew Brees - NO = Min
A tough week 1 matchup for Brees and the Saints offense against a stellar Vikings defense, but with the game being played in New Orleans, Brees will have the crowd noise on his side which should allow him to still be productive this week. Also on Brees' side is the fact that the Saints running game could easily be shut out, so if the Saints intend on scoring this week, Brees and the passing game will likely do most of the work. 250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns is likely, but an interception or 2 is also possible.
5. Tom Brady - NE = Cin
Coming off of a solid preseason and entering his second full season removed from a knee injury, Brady has all the potential to reclaim his position as a weekly must start fantasy football QB during the 2010 season. Add in a healthy Randy Moss, the likely return of Wes Welker for at least several offensive possessions in week 1, and the emergence of rookies Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, and Brady suddenly has a handful of solid passing options at his disposal. A matchup against the Bengals two excellent cornerbacks won't be easy, but overall Brady looks like a solid bet for 250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns.
6. Tony Romo - Dal = @Was
A shaky preseason from Romo and the Cowboys offensive may be concerning to some, but I am not buying into that. With rookie Dez Bryant likely playing this week and teaming up with a healthy Miles Austin and Jason Witten, the Cowboys passing attack likely has more options than what the suspect Redskins defense can handle this week. Romo should be looking at stats around 225-275 passing yards and at least 1 touchdown.
7. Philip Rivers - SD = @KC
Outstanding matchup for the Chargers offense, but Ryan Matthews could easily steal the show and the end zone this week which would limit Rivers' touchdown potential. However even with that said, Antonio Gates is a premier red zone target, so Rivers could still net 200-250 passing yards and 1-2 touchdowns.
8. Jay Cutler - Chi = Det
After posting an absolutely terrible preseason, Cutler could easily show up fantasy football teams who passed over drafting him this week against the likely lowly Lions defense. With a pass first offense implemented in Chicago, Cutler has the potential to tally 300 passing yards and 2 touchdowns this week. However on the down side, Cutler is clearly not a safe play entering the season, so while the stat potential is very high for Cutler in week 1, the truth is he simply should not be trusted to start over more reliable fantasy football QBs.

9. Eli Manning - NYG = Car
Simply offering steady and reliable production at QB, Manning is a solid top 10 starting QB for fantasy football teams in week 1. Stats in the range of 200-225 passing yards and 1 touchdown seems realistic to expect.
10. Carson Palmer - Cin = @NE
A very young, inexperienced and overall suspect Patriots secondary should allow enough holes for Palmer to enjoy a solid week 1 performance. Expecting stats around 200-225 passing yards and 1 touchdown is reasonable.
11. Brett Favre - Min = @NO
Just simply do not trust Favre against what should be a fired up Saints defense in New Orleans.
12. Kevin Kolb - Phi = GB
Iffy call on Kolb in week 1, as he simply has not played well in the preseason, but at the same time, the Packers secondary has looked awful even against bad quarterbacks including Jake Delhomme and Matt Cassel in the preseason.
13. Matt Ryan - Atl = @Pit
Tough week 1 matchup means Ryan should be on your bench this week.
14. Joe Flacco - Bal = @NYJ
Tough week 1 matchup means Flacco should be on your bench this week.
15. Donovan McNabb - Was = Dal
Injury concerns and a stout Dallas defense makes McNabb bench worthy.
16. Chad Henne - Mia = @Buf
Solid matchup for Henne makes him spot starter worthy if needed this week.
17. Matthew Stafford - Det = @ Chi
It's tempting to think that Stafford could have a solid week, with the Bears defense likely unable to find an answer to stop Calvin Johnson.
18. Kyle Orton- Den = @Jac
19. David Garrard - Jac = Den
20. Matt Hasselbeck - Sea = SF
21. Alex Smith - SF = @Sea
22. Vince Young - Ten = Oak
23. Matt Cassel - KC = SD
24. Jason Campbell - Oak = @Ten
25. Sam Bradford - StL = Ari
26. Derek Anderson - Ari = StL
27. Matt Moore - Car = @NYG
28. Mark Sanchez - NYJ = Bal
29. Jake Delhomme - Cle = @TB
30. Trent Edwards - Buf = Mia
31. Dennis Dixon - Pit = Atl
32. Charlie Batch - Pit = Atl
33. Josh Johnson - TB = Cle
34. Josh Freeman - TB = Cle
WILL NOT PLAY - WEEK 1
Ben Roethlisberger - Pit = OUT - SUSPENDED
Byron Leftwich - Pit = OUT - INJURED
