Early Week 1 WR Rankings - Player Profiles and Stat Projections Will Be Posted Throughout the Week
Week 1 --- QB Rankings --- RB Rankings --- WR Rankings --- TE Rankings --- D Rankings --- Waiver Pickups --- Matchup Picks
1. Andre Johnson - Hou = Ind
There really is no reason to believe that Johnson will not put up top 5 WR fantasy stats this week. 5-10 receptions for 100 plus receiving yards and 1 or 2 touchdowns is definitely within reach.
2. Calvin Johnson - Det = @TB
The Johnson name is surely 1&2 WR worthy this week in fantasy football leagues, as Calvin could easily be ranked ahead of Andre. However either way, both Johnson's are clearly the #1 and #2 options at WR in week 1. 6-10 receptions for 100 plus receiving yards and 1 touchdown.
3. Larry Fitzgerald - Ari = Car
Solid matchup for the Arizona offense this week, and new QB Kevin Kolb should enjoy teaming up with Fitzgerald in their regular season debut together. Anything around 80-100 receiving yards is likely, and a touchdown is possible as well. 5-8 receptions for 100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.
4. Hakeem Nicks - NYG = @Was
Nicks should be the biggest piece of the Giants offensive attack in this game, as the Redskins will likely have a hard time stopping him. 5-8 receptions for 80-100 yards and 1 touchdown is likely.
5. DeSean Jackson - Phi = @StL
The plethora of offensive weapons in Philly could hurt Jackson's total stat line by the end of the season, but this weeks matchup against the Rams should prove to be a nice opening week performance for Jackson as stats in the range of 3-6 receptions for 80 receiving yards and 1 touchdown is possible.
6. Roddy White - Atl = @Chi
Not the easiest of matchups, but with the Falcons likely to have a tough time running the ball against the Bears defense, it makes a lot of sense that Matt Ryan will air it out a lot in this game. 4-8 receptions for 80-100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown is possible.
7. Greg Jennings - GB = NO
Very good matchup for the Packers passing attack in this game, and Jennings should lead the way for the Packers as 3-6 receptions for 75-100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown is possible.
8. Vincent Jackson - SD = Min
It would not surprise me one bit if Jackson exploded for a huge stat line in this game. I would look for Philip Rivers to air it out a lot, and Jackson has the potential to haul in 10 receptions for 100 plus yards and 1-2 touchdowns if all goes his way.
9. Dwayne Bowe - KC = Buf
Considering the likelihood that the Bills will have one of the worst defenses this season, it makes sense to believe that Bowe will hook up with Matt Cassel on several plays in this game. Excellent upside for Bowe this week.
10. Mike Williams - TB = Det
The much improved Lions defensive unit shouldn't be a breeze to rack up yards against like in previous seasons, but Mike Williams is still the #1 target for the emerging Josh Freeman. Look for some solid and reliable stat production with a nice upside if all goes well.
11. Stevie Johnson - Buf = @KC
While there are plenty on the Stevie Johnson bandwagon, I am one of the skeptics. The loss of Lee Evans could easily hurt Johnson's ability to get open, as he will consistently see double teams. However this weeks matchup still seems to benefit Johnson. This should be a good test to see just how effective Johnson can be this season as the clear #1 WR on his team.

Post a CommentWell it is a pretty close to a toss up between Marshall and Welker this week. I do feel that Welker has the better matchup against the Miami secondary than Marshall does against the Patriots. I would have to say that Welker is the safer play to get at least 3-5 catches and 40-80 yards, while Marshall is the boom/bust guy who could catch just 1 or 2 passes for a couple of yards, or go off for 100 plus yards and a touchdown. Depends what you feel you can risk for your team. If you want safe points then I like Welker, if you want to take the risk of big points....then go with Marshall.
You have Wes Welker and Percy Harvin much higher than Brandon Marshall. My wide receivers are Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker, and Percy Harvin. I was thinking that because Marshall was the number 1 wide receiver in Miami, and because he has had a pretty good preseason, forming a good connection with Chad Henne, that he would be a good start. But is Welker that much better of a start? Especially as my second wide reciever?
