Boise State is losing ground by playing weak competition. The Broncos dropped to #8, but they play Hawaii this week which will help their strength of schedule. Boise State also has Frenso State and Nevada,a combined 12-3, so they still have a chance to gain back some ground and finish in the top 2. Speaking of Hawaii, I have them at #20. They have a 7-2 mark with both losses coming early to USC and Colorado. This could be a closer game than people expect.
We all knew Michigan State was not as good as their 8-0 start may have indicated but they had a favorable schedule with Notre Dame being the Spartans only reasonably tough non-conference game and not having to play Ohio State this year. However, Iowa surely ended and possibility of the Spartans making it very far. The Big Ten race will be fun to watch these last 4 weeks as Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Ohio State all have 1 conference loss.
The SEC is rather unbalanced this year. The western division has possibly 5 teams better than any team from the eastern division. It was only 4 or 5 years ago that the East was the more dominant conference but Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are all struggling this season. Alabama versus LSU will be the best game in week 10. They are #6 and 10 in the BCS (9 and 15 in my poll). Alabama is very much alive in the SEC championship picture but LSU needs to beat Alabama and have Auburn lose to both Georgia and Alabama to get into the championship game.
