Coaching News
In the NFL this week there were some significant and expected firings this week as Dallas head coach Wade Phillips was fired and replaced by Jason Garrett who was already on the Cowboys staff. I don't know what to expect from the shakeup because the Cowboys couldn't possibly play worse than they have recently...for the year they're 1-7and win-less at home. Ouch! Dallas fans aren't very comfortable with losing to that extent. Tony Romo will not need surgery for this third degree shoulder separation that followed a second separation earlier this year.
Injuries
Detroit's top two quarterbacks are out for Sunday's game versus the Bills in Buffalo and I still think they beat the Bills with their number three quarterback Drew Stanton.
Percy Harvin the Vikings wide receiver missed practice today, Wednesday, due to a migraine headache. ..he just returned last week from an ankle injury and is expected to play this week.
New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski was put on injured reserve today, 11/10/2010, which means his season is over...he will be replaced by Shayne Graham.
San Diego all-pro tight end Antonio Gates isn't expected to practice until next week due to a torn plantar fascia tissue in the arch of his right foot. It's a very painful injury to my understanding that can be slow to heal...he might not be at full speed until the off season provides him a chance to rest and rehabilitate his foot.
Chris Brooks the Indianapolis wide receiver is expected to be promoted to the regular roster from the practice squad this week.
Cleveland quarterback Seneca Wallace is nursing a sprained ankle and will defer to Colt McCoy Sunday who will get most of the snaps in practice this week...Jake Delhomme who is third on the Browns depth chart is nursing a sprained ankle.
Chad Pennington will start for the Dolphins in place of Chad Henne this week in a crucial game to Miami who is playing at home this week against the Titans...the Dolphins are win-less this year at home.
Indy wide receiver Austin Collie is not ready to come back this week from a concussion he suffered last week...Joseph Addai the Colts running back is expecting to return to game action on November 21...he is recovering from a shoulder injury.
The Detroit Lions obtained Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Zac Robinson due to their troubles at quarterback...he has taken very few NFL live snaps, but as a collegian he gained more than 10,000 all-purpose yards at Oklahoma State including close to 2,000 yards rushing...he will backup Drew Stanton.
