Week 13 NFL Power Rankings: A Powerful Titans Team Storms Rankings
New Orleans Held Serve for the Top Spot by Embarrassing the New England Patriots
We can go no further with the new week 13 NFL power rankings without mentioning the Tennessee Titans, who won their fifth consecutive game with a fourth quarter comeback on Sunday afternoon. Vince Young has that team playing even better than anyone could have guessed (well except for the Titans owner who demanded Vince Young be made the starter again) and they are closing in on 2009 NFL playoff contention. This is a bad sign for the teams that are struggling, like the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers, because it means that more teams will be battling for that last AFC wild card spot.
Over in the NFC things are looking really good for the Dallas Cowboys, and even better for the Minnesota Vikings who were able to win again on Sunday. Those two teams, along with the New Orleans Saints seem to be close to clinching playoff berths, and that leaves only the NFC West to be decided. Philadelphia isn't giving up on the NFC East just yet though, and they have an all-important game in Dallas to close out the season that could end up having huge playoff implications for the NFC post season. Dallas beat them by four in their first meeting of the season, so they would like nothing better than to exact some revenge.
One question that will becoming even more important over the coming week is whether the New York Giants are done this year, or if they possibly still have something left in the tank to clean up in the last part of the 2009 regular season. The other battle will be whether Tampa Bay or St. Louis can clinch the first pick in the 2010 Draft, but now that we think about it a little bit more, neither team should be proud of that accomplishment.
