Week 17 NFL Power Rankings with Picks, Predictions and Schedule

J.A. McLynne
The Patriots continue to dominate in the Week 17 NFL Power Rankings. There seems to be no stopping Tom Brady and crew as the New England Patriots routed the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. The Atlanta Falcons still cling to the number 2 spot despite taking a loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints in the Georgia Dome. The win earlier in the NFL season by the Falcons over the Saints was just enough to keep the Falcons a nose hair ahead of the Saints in the Week 17 Power Rankings.

In the interested of getting the NFL Power rankings and game picks out on time, I am not able to include much information about the Week 16 game between the Vikings and Eagles, since the game was delayed until tonight due to the blizzard in the Northeast. Last week's NFL power rankings predicted that the Eagles would win the game against the Vikings. So, if you are interested in the raw score value from the power rankings prediction software, then you can add a few points to the Eagles ranking and subtract a few from the Vikings. The spread will be a little larger if the Eagles win by a larger value. On the other hand, if the the Vikings win the game tonight, then it may really through a wrench in the rankings, since it could affect how many of the other teams rank based on whether they played any games against the Vikings or the Eagles. That is one of the complexities of the power ranking software.

One team that is tumbling on the NFL power rankings are the New York Giants. The Giants have tumbled down to the number 12 position with the recent humiliating losses to the Eagles and the Packers. The Packers game had a more far reaching effect in bringing the Giants down in the rankings. Now there will need to be a miraculous alignment of the stars in order for the Giants to make the playoffs. Well, the Giants just need to win, and the Saints need to lose in Week 17. If the Saints win, the Giants are out of the NFL Wild card in the NFC.
