Although I think Lloyd is the real deal (at least this year), I don't think he stays in the top 5 till the season end. And it has nothing to do with Orton's performance. It's simple, Denver will not make the playoffs if they don't establish a running game and I expect the coach to slow the game down with Knosho(wn) Moreno when he finally gets back. Now other news, Miles Austin is the WR1 and it is not even close in Dallas, Randy and Santana Moss are in a duel to see who the best Moss is this year and they'll tie. Marques Colston isn't retired and Michael Crabtree isn't forgotten anymore.
As a side note I went 9-2 last week in my ESPN leagues, good week!
If you are in a pinch and need to pick up a player for byes then concentrate on the sleeper section. If you are looking to buy low for a trade or need to bolster your lineup then look at the keeper section.
Here's the 2010 fantasy football week 6 keepers and sleepers for wide receivers:
Keepers
1) Randy Moss - Yes, Percy Harvin had a nice night. Yes, Brett Favre has a gimpy elbow. Yes, Adrian Peterson wants the ball more. Yes, Sidney Rice is off of crutches. None of this matters because Brett Favre has had a man crush on Randy Moss for a decade now. Moss will now remind you that he is still an elite option at WR. Try and trade for him if you can and reap the benefits as the Vikings make a strong push for the playoffs.
2) DeSean Jackson - The quarterback non-controversy has affected any kind of chemistry on the Eagles (yet they still win). One more game of Kolb and then it's Vick the rest of the season. Jackson has the skill and the speed to reap the rewards of long balls thrown in his direction. He just needs to be given a chance. If we can truly believe Andy Reid (maybe... not likely... ok yes) then Vick will be the starter for the remainder of the year and that should have a positive effect on Jackson's numbers. I expect a shootout between Atlanta and Philly with White and Jackson topping 100 yards.
3) Hines Ward - The most complete receiver in the game just got his QB back. I'm thinking Big Ben lights him up for a dazzling 10+ reception, 100+ yard, 2 TD game. I expect the Steelers to execute all game long no matter what the score, this will be like a big practice game against a so-so team. The Steelers will be 4-1 and you should pick up Hines Ward for this week and the rest of the season.
4) Anquan Boldin - A little erratic but this guy is the true WR1 on the team and an often overlooked fantasy player this year. Make a trade for him. I think the 3 TD game was extraordinary but I also think there are a few 2 TD games in the future. New England's secondary is average at best. Not only will Baltimore win this game but Boldin and Rice will put up some decent numbers.
5) Brandon Marshall - As tempting as it is to trade him I would hold and try to pick up a buy low on him. His QB situation in Henne is mediocre at best but I think Marshall will shine regardless. The game plan has to be to get the ball in Marshall's hands, that is the only way Miami makes the playoffs. The coach knows it, the QB knows it, Marshall knows it, and now you know it. Grab him and keep him.
Sleepers
1) Michael Crabtree - This guy is sitting on the waiver wire for you to pick him up. No seriously, this 4th - 5th round WR is there, go look for him. Well, at least I found him on about a half dozen leagues sitting there. A decent play this week as the very desperate 49ers team fights for their lives (or the division) and Crabtree should see a nice solid 100 yard game with a TD thrown in. Singletary is no dummy and that is why the offensive coordinator is gone. From here on out it'll be a fantasy worthy year for Crabtree no matter whose chucking the ball.
2) Kenny Britt - I had him early on then I dropped him and now I'm picking him back up. Vince Young likes this guy and Chris Johnson needs some room. I think Britt still remains a hot red zone target and the Titans face the very so-so Jacksonville Jaguars. Britt should produce some modest numbers and should be a good bye week filler.
3) Jabar Gaffney - I realize it is the Brandon Lloyd show in Denver but the Jets have a very nice secondary even without Revis. However, to counter that the Broncos have an excellent receiving core and any of the top four receivers is capable of 100+ yards with Orton throwing the ball. Lloyd should get most of the attention and this should free up Gaffney who should also benefit from an injured Thomas. 150 yards. Am I crazy? Nope I can just predict the future.
4) Nate Burleson - Who? Remember him? He's finally back and Megatron is most likely out. Even with the sure handed Johnson in of the picture I think Hill throws often and far. Pettigrew will see an increase in looks but I ultimately think this is Burleson's week to shine. Oh and the Lions are ranked 6th in passing offense. Go figure.
5) Danny Amendola - This guy is a monster in PPR leagues, last week alone was 12 catches. Mark Clayton is out for the season and Amendola is going to step it up. Bradford is the real deal and I've been picking up Amendola as often as I can. I think the combo with make some magic. This guy you want to keep for the season unlike Burleson who you can drop next week.
There we go, my crystal ball has spoken and these are the 2010 fantasy football week 6 wide receiver picks. Set in stone and stamped with my money back guarantee (I'll reimburse you the costs of what you paid to read this if I'm wrong). Anyways, have a good week and I'll see you for the Halloween picks in about 7 days!
