Week 9 College Football Rankings in the Asbury Computer Poll

Andre Asbury
Oklahoma went down last weekend to make it the third straight weekend the #1 team lost after Alabama and Ohio State lost in the previous weeks. It was a tough close game but Missouri came out ahead. Missouri is one team the voters have not given much credit to this year but they quietly have put up a 7-0 record. Well, it was quiet until the win over Oklahoma. Yet they still are only 6th in the BCS standings. My computer has had them at least at that position all season while until this week, they hadn't cracked the top 10 in the official polls.

Another big game last weekend featured 2 top 10 teams from the SEC. Few teams have been able to slow down the Auburn offense this year but it anyone was to do it, LSU would be it, but it didn't happen. The Auburn Tigers piled up 526 yard of offense and Cam Newton rushed for 217 to get his name solidly in the Heisman talk. Meanwhile, LSU could hardly get the ball moving with less than half the number of offensive yards as Auburn, but they managed to keep it close.

Nebraska-Oklahoma State provided a very entertaining game in the Big 12 where teams are known to play little defense. It was a 51-41 shootout with Nebraska coming out on top. Taylor Martinez was impressive, this time doing it with his arm as well as his legs. He passed for over 300 and rushed for over 100 yards in the win.

So, here's how the rankings stand after 8 weeks. With only a few exceptions (Utah, Oklahoma, Oregon), my computer rankings resemble the BCS very closely.
