Here at the halfway point of the 2010 NFL season it has been hard making predictions all year. The NFC has been especially hard to pick as no team has stepped up to be dominant and the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints are a shell of their former selves.
Denver at San Francisco (London England)
This is supposedly a home game for the San Francisco 49ers but it will be played in London. Both teams are coming off embarrassing losses as the Broncos got shelled by the Raiders and the 49ers gave Carolina it's first win. Alex Smith was injured and may not play for the 49ers. David Carr is a terrible quarterback and Denver wins 17 to 7.
Jacksonville at Dallas
The Jaguars are just calling it in and Coach Jack Del Rio may be fired after this game. Dallas has the talent but do they have the focus? I think they do for this game, my free week eight office pool pick is Dallas 28 Jacksonville 14.
Miami at Cincinnati
The Bengals really need to establish a running game for them to be successful. This would take the pressure off their overrated defense. Like the Bengals the Dolphins move the ball but don't score lots of points. Miami plays better on the road than at home and I think the Dolphins win 24 to 21.
Buffalo at Kansas City
The Bills may have shot their wad last week in an overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It will be hard for them to get up for the Chiefs after that. Kansas City is solid but needs one more good wide receiver to go with Dwayne Bowe for them to be good. Buffalo is decent against the pass but last in giving up rushing yards. This plays into the Chiefs hands, my week eight NFL game prediction is Kansas City 24 Buffalo 17.
Washington at Detroit
The Lions probably get quarterback Matthew Stafford back in week eight. Not a bit too soon as Shaun Hill is now out after playing very well after Stafford was injured in week one. The Lions offense actually ranks 10th in points per game and is high in passing offense but dead last at running the ball. The Redskins have developed a better running game with Ryan Torain and that is a huge deal in a Mike Shanahan offense. Shanahan's version of the West Coast Offense depends on the run. Still I like Stafford in blowing off the rust as the Lions win 24 to 21.
Carolina at St. Louis
The Panthers looked solid against a bad 49ers team in week seven and Matt Moore found a new friend in undrafted rookie wide receiver David Gettis. Sam Bradford is playing well but the defense and running game is doing decently for the Rams. St. Louis wins a close one at home 21 to 17.
Green Bay at New York Jets
The Packers are still banged up but managed to put another nail in the coffin of the Vikings last week. The Packers running game is improving a little but there defense is still very overrated in my opinion. Despite improved play by Mark Sanchez this team lives and dies by the run. The problem with the vaunted Jets defense is that teams have had some success passing on them. But I like the home team and my week eight NFL game prediction is Jets 27 Packers 24.
Tennessee at San Diego
Teams going in opposite directions face off this week. San Diego is just mailing it in and waiting for the season to be over and making too many mistakes. The Titans are firing on all cylinders and are improving each week. Tennessee knocks off the Chargers 17 to 10.
Minnesota at New England
The Vikings should bench the gimpy Brett Favre and use Tarvaris Jackson like the Titans use Vince Young, to help supplement the run game. But the major Patriot weakness is pass defense and if Favre can walk he may light em up. You got to look at the return of Randy Moss to New England as well. Moss dominates teams when he is pissed off at them. But I think Coach Belichick and the Patriots get it done at home 31 to 28.
Tampa Bay at Arizona
The Cardinals are banged up and not a very good team. Tampa Bay comes to town sporting a surprising 4-2 record. Tampa needs to get their running game going to help Josh Freeman who is the most improved quarterback in the NFL, compared to last year. Tampa wins 17 to 14 in Arizona.
Seattle at Oakland
These are two difficult teams to predict as you don't know who will show up and play. Oakland spanked Denver last week and Seattle brings in the 5th ranked defense for points allowed. What is shocking is that the Raiders rank 5th in points scored but that is in part due to hanging 50 on the Broncos. I like Oakland to win at home 24 to 21.
The Saints are banged up but may get Reggie Bush back this week. The Steelers may be the best team in the league and should be able to get it up for a prime time game against the defending Super Bowl champs. Pittsburgh wins a close one 24 to 21.
Houston at Indianapolis
Houston beat the Colts in Texas and Indy has been playing badly. But this is Peyton Manning coming off a bye week. Indianapolis gets a little revenge against the Texans in a 35 to 27 win.

Post a CommentThe Colts are injury ridden, will be an interesting game to watch tonight. Not sure if Peyton can pull this off.
Redskins lose to the hapless Lions? Not possible! I mean wasn't it last year or the year before they lost to the Lions for the first time in a generation? Oppps! Too late, them sorry assed Skin's drop one t one of the worst teams in the league. SO congrats Lions, and Redskins' go suck it, ya lame assed SOB's. I swear, the Redskin's are the proverbial ugly bridesmaids, never to again be the bride. I wish I could abandon these incessant losers and disappointers, but alas, I am too true to the cause, but I sure do hate 'em for ruining yet ANOTHER weekend for me by losing to a way inferior team. And about now I'm not too awful fond of you Randy! DAMN!
Now Troy Smith is going to start for the niners. I'll be interested to see how he does with so few snaps from center.
Hopefully Dallas will be too wrecked from tonight's game vs the Jints ;-)
People think I'm brilliant when I pirate a few of your predictions...
If we had an office pool, this would be very helpful to me or very bad for you, depending on how much I won.
