Week one NFL game predictions are usually the most difficult but I hope I do well and help you out with your office football pool. Check back next week as I will be doing 2010 NFL football predictions all season. Click my name to see other football articles I have written.
Vikings at the Saints
In a rematch of the NFC Championship Game the Vikings travel to New Orleans in week one of the 2010 NFL season. With the exception of Darren Sharper getting older the Saints have pretty much the same team that went to the Super Bowl. The Vikings got Brett Favre back but are thin at wide receiver with an injury to Sidney Rice.
Favre is still healing from an ankle injury and looked rusty in the preseason. New Orleans has a chip on their shoulder from being discounted as Super Bowl repeat candidates. New Orleans beats Minnesota 28 to 17.
Raiders at the Titans
I love the addition of Jason Campbell for the Raiders but he is a little banged up. The Tennessee Titans have the best running back in football in Chris Johnson. I think the Titans defeat Oakland 24 to 7.
Panthers at the Giants
The Panthers blew out the Giants in the last game at the old stadium and now play the first game in their new one. Carolina looked real bad on offense in the preseason under Matt Moore who has no wide receivers other than Steve Smith. I think the Giants get a little revenge and beat the Panthers 21 to 14.
Broncos at Jaguars
The Jaguars have Maurice Jones Drew and that is about it on offense and the defense is average at best. Tim Tebow makes his return to Florida but will be on the sidelines barring injury to Kyle Orton. I am not impressed with either team so go with the home town guys. Jacksonville 17 Denver 10.
Falcons at Steelers
Atlanta is a Super Bowl favorite for some but I am still not sold on their defense. Matt Ryan should be ready to step up and Michael Turner looks to be in better shape. Pittsburgh will be without Ben Roethlisberger who is serving the first of a four to six game suspension. I think the Steelers will keep it close but lose to the Falcons by the score of 21 to 17.
Dolphins at Bills
The Bills just suck and Miami is a solid team that seems to get better each season. Look for the Wildcat Offense to still be in play despite the release of Pat White. Miami beats the hapless Bills 27 to 10.
Browns at Bucs
Cleveland sucks and so do the Bucs and this will be a bad game. Jake Delhomme brings the Browns down to sunny Florida and will win 17 to 10.
Bengals at Patriots
Cincinnati looked good last year in knocking off some teams they shouldn't have and the Patriots kind of looked old. Despite the addition of Terrell Owens I am not sold on the Bengals offense. New England wins 21 to 17.
Colts at Texans
This should be a shootout between two teams with great passing games and subpar running offenses. Texas has a better defense than the Colts but their best player Brian Cushing is suspended for 4 games. Don't expect to see Matt Leinart to play even if Matt Schaub is injured, he does not know the offense yet. Texans knock off the Colts 31 to 28 in a mild upset 31 to 28.
Packers at the Eagles
Green Bay takes their high flying passing attack to Philadelphia to be a part of a Kevin Kolb's debut as Donovan McNabb's replacement. I think the Eagles will be ok with Kolb but the Packers win 24 to 21.
49ers at Seahawks
Pet Carroll makes his debut as the coach of the Seahawks. Unlike his USC players he didn't take a pay cut when he turned pro. I really like the 49ers to run away with the division and they will beat Seattle 21 to 10.
Cardinals at the Rams
Two bad teams with new quarterbacks will be playing in St. Louis. The Rams bring out rookie Sam Bradford who looked decent in preseason. Derek Anderson replaces the retired Kurt Warner in Arizona. Matt Leinart proved to be a bust and was released, to sign with the Texans. Bradford is a rookie qb on a terrible team so Arizona wins a stinker 10 to 0.
Lions at the Bears
The improving Lions take it on the road to division rival Chicago. Julius Peppers make his debut with Chicago, but I wonder if he will play hard which he seldom did in Carolina. I do think the Bears win a close one 24 to 21.
Cowboys at Redskins
This old rivalry gets a new twist with Mike Shanahan coaching and Donovan McNabb quarterbacking the Redskins. McNabb is injured but expected to play. Look for the Skins to pressure Romo but lose 21 to 14.
Ravens at the Jets
This game is going to be ugly and hard hitting. I like the Ravens to make the Super Bowl with the addition of Anquan Boldin. Revis has signed with the Jets but he will be rusty. Baltimore wins 14 to 10.
Chargers at the Chiefs
San Diego is missing some offense and Ryan Matthews will try to replace LaDainian Tomlinson. I think the team will miss holdout Marcus McNeil and holdout/suspended wide receiver Vincent Jackson more than Tomlinson. Kansas City is slowing getting better and have added Thomas Jones to a stout running game. Kansas City upsets the Chargers 24 to 21.

Post a CommentNicely done, Cheers. :)
Thanks Ryan.
12-4 if I counted that right. Nice work!
Nice job on your picks! I'm not sure anyone could've predicted how either the Bears/Lions game or the Cowboys/Redskins game would wind up--absolutely crazy final plays on those two. I was also surprised at how shaky the Falcons looked; I didn't expect that, especially given the Steelers' QB woes this week.
Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NFL season is here! Nice Randy.
