Week Six NFL Picks and Prediction for Your NFL Office Pool

Analysis, Picks and Breakdowns of Every Match Up

Rodney Southern
Week six NFL picks and predictions come to you with a bit of a heavy heart. Last week was perhaps the worst picks I have ever given you all and I hope that you will hang in there with me. Obviously I was not the only one to have a horrible week. Virtually all picks out there were sub .500. Given this, here are my week 6 NFL picks and predictions with the attitude of a defensive back that just got burned by Randy Moss - a short memory and a confident attitude!

SUN, OCT 17

Seattle at Chicago1:00 PM Soldier Field

The Bears looked like they could not beat a high school football team against my lowly Panthers last week, and that was largely because of the fact they had no quarterback. Bad as they were, they still killed my Panthers. That was a statement of how bad the Panthers are this season, though it is hard for me to admit that. Given this, I expect that Chicago will struggle a bit this week. Seattle is no push over as people thought they might be. I still think that Chicago will have enough at home.

Winner - Chicago Bears

Miami at Green Bay1:00 PM Lambeau Field

The Dolphins are a team that can not seem to figure out who they want to be. Do they want to air it out and play the battling score game, or do they want to run the ball effectively? As good as Chad Henne actually is, they should really focus on the run more to find themselves in the upper echelon of the AFC. Ronnie Brown and company will be needed come playoff time. Green Bay is the type of team that best shows this. They pass constantly and so the defense adjusts with no run game. Ryan Grant being hurt really messed up Green Bay this year. Add to that the fact that Rodgers is out and you have a recipe for a Green Bay loss. I see Miami pulling this one out for a rare east coast road win.

Winner - Miami Dolphins

San Diego at St. Louis1:00 PM Edward Jones Dome

St. Louis really had us going up until last week. Finally, the Rams looked like the young team that they are. Against Detroit, the Rams truly played horrible, and it won't be the last time this season. They will have their share of success, but they are not there yet. The Chargers are having troubles of a different sort, but they should handle the Rams this week.

Winner - San Diego Chargers

Baltimore at New England1:00 PM Gillette Stadium

New England certainly made waves in trading Randy Moss, but they are not the type of waves that you would expect. Losing a top shelf receiver like that is not a good way to solidify your place in the AFC. In spite of this, they are still very tough at home. Expect Baltimore to be tough as nails, but to lose the game in the end.

Winner - New England Patriots

New Orleans at Tampa Bay1:00 PM Raymond James Stadium

Nobody seems to be able to put their finger on the reason why New Orleans is suffering so much this season. It really is not all that hard to figure out. They have no run game so teams are simply spreading out the defense and stopping the big play. Even though Tampa Bay is young, they are much more talented than many know. They will put up a heck of a fight at home but lose it in the end.

Winner - New Orleans Saints

Detroit at NY Giants1:00 PM New Meadowlands Stadium

The Lions won a game! That is news for Detroit fans and they will not be suffering much longer. The Lions are building something and will be much improved in the years to come. The Giants are beginning to come together a bit, and that is bad news for the upstart Lions.

Winner - New York Giants

Atlanta at Philadelphia1:00 PM Lincoln Financial Field

The Falcons are seriously an odd team. They will look like they could beat the world one week and then struggle like crazy against the middle of the road teams. Enter Philly. At home. Do the math.

Winner - Philadelphia Eagles

Cleveland at Pittsburgh1:00 PM Heinz Field

Good old Ben picked the right team to return against didn't he?

Winner - Pittsburgh Steelers

Kansas City at Houston1:00 PM Reliant Stadium

Houston truly needs to figure out what is going on fast or they might see yet another season of high expectations go down in flames. They are so good it is scary when they are on, but they can also be terrible at times. Facing a tough team like Kansas City is not a good recipe to get better on, because of that nasty defense. Still, I think they will right the ship.

Winner - Houston Texans

Oakland at San Francisco4:05 PM Candlestick Park

Oakland is winning some, and it is almost strange. They now face a dangerous team in San Francisco who must be licking their chops with the next two weeks games against winnable opponents in Oakland and Carolina. They will win this one going away and begin to recover their season.

Winner - San Francisco 49ers

NY Jets at Denver4:05 PM Invesco Field at Mile High

The Jets are still looking fantastic and with every passing week they are growing stronger. Sanchez has actually started to win me over a bit. I like them on the road at Denver.

Winner - NY Jets

Dallas at Minnesota4:15 PM Metrodome

Dallas and Minnesota is going to be a dogfight. Neither team can afford to lose this one, but I see the Cowboys winning at home. Favre is simply struggling and finally starting to show his age, and Peterson is not going to be enough at Dallas.

Winner - Dallas Cowboys

Indianapolis at Washington8:20 PM FedEx Field

Colts in a laugher. The Redskin defense is like swiss cheese and Peyton Manning is getting his weapons back. No contest.

Winner - Indianapolis Colts

MON, OCT 18
Tennessee at Jacksonville8:30 PM EverBank Field

The Titans are going to see exactly why the Jaguars are a scary team come playoff time. They are tough as nails, and especially at home.

Winner - Jacksonville Jaguars

Score - Jacksonville 28 Titans 21
• Bye: Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona, Carolina

Week Five Record- 4-10
Season Record - 40-36
