Easter egg hunts, blooming flowers, artistic festivals and women's history. That's what you'll find in this article briefly going over local events in San Diego. These are all free events that are great for the whole family. So grab your Easter baskets, put on some sunscreen and fill your month with free fun in the warm San Diego sun:

NATURE HIKE AMID FLOWERS-When: Saturday, April 2 9:30-11AM. Where: Visitor Center at Mission Trails Regional Park, One Father Junipero Serra Trail. This park covers 6,150 acres of land reminiscing on an environment dating back to 1542 San Diego. It's a great way to spend your Saturday on the outskirts of San Diego!

LADIES DAY IN OLD TOWN-When: Saturday , April 9 noon-5PM. Where: Old Town State Historic Park. This is a day commemorating the women who've made contributions in San Diego from 1821-1872. Not only will you learn about their impact on the city's history but you will also watch historical demonstrations, make crafts and even hand-crank your own ice cream! Don't forget to hit the candy shop.

CHILDREN'S SPRING FESTIVAL & EGG HUNT-When: Saturday, April 16 10:30AM-noon. Where: La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave., Solana Beach. Bring your kids and a basket to collect eggs and other goodies. This Easter egg hunt is limited to chidren in grades 3 and under. For more information, call the Parks & Recreation Department at 858-720-2453. Of course, this isn't the only Easter Egg hunt going on in the county. For a list, pick up the April edition of San Diego Family at your local library (or wherever else you may find them...they're everywhere!) and turn to pages 99-108. Happy hunting!

MISSION FEDERAL ARTWALK FESTIVAL-When: Saturday, April 30 11AM-6PM. Where: From Beech to Grape St., Little Italy District in downtown San Diego. KidsWalk at Amici Park on Date St. According to the Mission Federal ArtWalk's website, fourteen local arts organizations will be featured at the KidsWalk. Some of these include The New Children's Museum and Chula Vista Nature Center. For the adults, you will be able to paint with artists, such as Rosemary KimBal and Kira Carrillo. Also, there will be a raffle drawn for several painting and artwork.
