Family Get-Aways
Cincinnati, Ohio - In Cincinnati there is something for the entire family to do. I'd recommend staying downtown because there are so many sites in and around the downtown area. Sometimes you can get great rates at the Hyatt downtown or the Westin Cincinnati. Things to do include shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, visiting the Cincinnati Zoo (rated by Zagat as one of the top 5 zoos in the nation), Newport Aquarium (just across the bridge from downtown) and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center (a great educational stop for the whole family).
Butler, Pennsylvania - At Conley's Golf and Resort just outside of Pittsburgh, you can golf all day while the kids and mom enjoy the resorts' waterpark. Conley Golf course is a favorite of Pittsburgh residents. Resort packages include overnight accomodations, breakfast and unlimited golfing with a cart. The waterpark is somewhat small but the kids will love it. They can enjoy a couple of water slides, pirate ship, sauna and hot tub, then the family can come together again for dinner.
Romance/Quiet Seclusion
Perrysburg, Ohio - Belamere Suites, a luxurious and unique hotel in Perrysburg, Ohio (a suburb of Toledo), is a hot romantic spot for couples of all ages. Cozy fireplaces, two person jacuzzi tubs and showers, rose petals on the bed, chocolate covered strawberries and a delicious european breakfast are just a few of the amenities that make this hotel special for lovers.
Bradford, PA - The Glendorn offers a variety of accomodations. Stay in one of the upscale suites or go for optimum privacy and seclusion in one of the cabins. No matter what you decide, the Glendorn will give you a getaway to remember. Amenities include woodburning fireplaces, luxurious spa and bath accessories, complimentary water, tea and coffee and yummy cookies. You might just opt to stay cuddled with your honey all weekend, but in case you want to do something else, the Glendorn offers activities such as fishing, boating or just enjoying nature.
Arts/Culture
Columbus, Ohio is a great place to get away to and explore the arts and culture. Begin your visit in the downtown area. Visit the Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus College of Art & Design. Spend the following day on/around the Ohio State campus. There you can visit the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Jack Nicklaus Museum (if you're interested in golf). Other attractions include the Kathryn Gallery, Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.
Go ahead, ask for a Friday and/or Monday off and head for one of these fantastic destinations. You'll be glad you did.
