The extravaganza starts on Friday July 4th at around 11 am when the food vendors open and ends Saturday night after the second enormous fireworks show that, of course, is choreographed to music! Despite the festivities ending on Saturday, since you are already in town stay an extra night and enjoy all that Cripple Creek and the surrounding Pike National Forest have to offer.
Just over a two hour drive outside of Denver participating in the Fourth of July Cripple Creek activities will not suck your vacation budget dry on gas. Admission to the July 4th and 5th celebration is free allowing more to be spent on food, fun, and other festivities!
The festivities to participate in include, but are not limited to, a cake walk, petting zoo, bike decorating contest, and live music. There will be plenty of food to satisfy your hunger and of course a beer garden to wet your tongue. On Saturday at 2:00 pm don't miss out on the watermelon eating contest with a watermelon seed spitting contest shortly afterward at 2:30! If you have ever wanted to try your hand at bungee jumping, the Fourth of July weekend in Cripple Creek is the time to make the hurdle between noon and 8 on either (or both) days! With plenty of other Fourth of July activities, there is sure to be something fun for every member of your family!
On Sunday, when the official Fourth of July celebration comes to a close there is still much to occupy your time. Cripple Creek is home to the World's Greatest Gold Camp allowing a glimpse into the past. The area has many museums and tours to explore. Pike National Forest surrounds the area and is a great place for those who love the rich outdoors. Multiple casinos may offer you the chance to strike, well get rich, and if not rich offer tons of fun.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, spend your time in the quaint town of Cripple Creek. Offering tons of fun, loads of food, multiple activities, and TWO fireworks displays you can't ask for anything more for your Fourth of July! It will surely be a Fourth of July weekend the whole family will remember for years to come.
