Philip Rivers, Drew Brees Are the NFL's Best Quarterbacks After Week Six

Jeremy Dunn
1. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (3-3): 109.4 quarterback rating

After a disappointing week in Miami against the Dolphins, Philip Rivers completely redeemed himself against the New England Patriots. He picked apart the Patriots defense, as he racked up 306 yards, including 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions in their 30-10 triumph. Rivers' leadership qualities are becoming more manifest with each passing week, especially since LaDanian Tomlinson is not producing the same crushing numbers that we are accustomed to seeing. Vincent Jackson was Rivers' preferred target on Sunday, as he caught five passes, which included one touchdown pass.

Rivers has 14 touchdown passes versus 4 interceptions. He has thrown for 1,489 yards with a completion percentage of 61.8.

2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (3-3): 105.0 quarterback rating

Drew Brees was virtually seamless in the Saints 34-3 route over the Oakland Raiders. He completed 26 passes in only 30 attempts, a percentage of 87. Additionally, he amassed 320 yards with three touchdown passes. The injury to his favorite target Marques Colston has not decelerated Brees' production. He is consistently and inaudibly one of the NFL's premier quarterbacks.

Brees has 12 touchdown passes and only 6 interceptions. He has thrown for an NFL-high 1,993 yards with a completion percentage of 71.

3. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (4-2): 103.5 quarterback rating

The good news for Tony Romo is that he is enjoying another first-rate season. The bad news is that he will sit on the sidelines for at least a month. Romo broke his pinky finger in the Cowboys 30-24 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Nevertheless, Romo completed 24 passes in 38 attempts for 321 yards. He threw three touchdown passes with no interceptions. Running back Marion Barber caught 11 passes, and scored a touchdown. Romo is unarguably one of the NFL's top five quarterbacks; hence, the team will miss his presence and locker room leadership. However, he must be healthy in time for the playoff run.

Romo has 14 touchdown passes and only 5 interceptions. He has accumulated 1,689 yards with a completion percentage of 64.0

4. Brett Favre, New York Jets (3-2): 103.0 quarterback rating

At any age with any team, Brett Favre is going to generate headlines. The transition to New York has not hindered Favre's effectiveness on the field. On Sunday, the Jets defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-14; however, Favre was not his typical self. He only threw one touchdown pass and two interceptions. He completed 25 passes in 33 attempts, and amassed 189 yards.

Favre has 13 touchdown passes and 6 interceptions. He has accumulated 1,124 yards with a completion percentage of 71.3.

5. Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals (4-2): 102.8 quarterback rating

When Kurt Warner is healthy and has the support of his coaching staff, he is one of the NFL's most efficient quarterbacks. His success in the late 1990's and early 2000's were no fluke. He commands respect from his peers. He had another solid game against the Dallas Cowboys, as he completed 22 passes in 30 attempts for 236 yards. He threw two touchdown passes and only one interception. Unless Warner is injured, Matt Leinart is nothing more than his backup.

Warner has 12 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. He has amassed 1,708 yards with a completion percentage of 70.

6. Chad Pennington, Miami Dolphins (2-3): 98.8 quarterback rating

Pennington has five touchdown passes and two interceptions. He has thrown for 1,101 yards with a completion percentage of 68.6.

7. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (3-3): 98.0 quarterback rating

Rodgers has eleven touchdown passes and four interceptions. He has thrown for 1,482 yards with a completion percentage of 64.2.

8. Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins (4-2): 96.2 quarterback rating

Campbell has six touchdown passes and has yet to throw an interception. He has thrown for 1,262 yards with a completion percentage of 64.2.

9. Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1): 95.7 quarterback rating

Roethlisberger has seven touchdown passes and three interceptions. He has thrown for 947 yards with a completion percentage of 63.7.

10. Jay Cutler, Denver Broncos (4-2): 94.8. quarterback rating

Cutler has twelve touchdown passes and five interceptions. He has thrown for 1,694 yards with a completion percentage of 64.

Other notable quarterbacks includeDonovan McNabb (93.2 QB rating), Eli Manning (91.4 QB rating), and Peyton Manning (87.8 QB rating)
