"Weighing In" on the Whole Jennifer Love Hewitt Bikini Thing

Negative Comments Spark Response from Actress

H.Rox
In case you haven't heard by now, pictures of Jennifer Love Hewitt in a bikini have been making the rounds online from a recent trip she took to Hawaii. And, many people are being a bit, shall we say -- overly critical -- that she isn't as thin as she used to be.

Some of the comments have been really brutal. For example, a person on one website posted pictures and rude remarks, something to do with cottage cheese. I won't be posting the link here.

Another website had mixed comments from people. The positive: such as "damn, I think she looks hot" and "She looks fine to me, just like most women on an American beach. BETTER than most women, actually."

Others were constructive, especially concerning her choice of a swimsuit top. "Boobs that big require some heavy-duty rigging to keep them up and not looking like they're trying to make a run for the border," wrote one person. Another from that same website wrote: "I work at a swimwear store, and I've got to tell you that's REALLY not the proper swimsuit at all for her body type."

And of course, there were negative ones, including "where's the harpoon?" Some included references to her TV series, Ghost Whisperer, like this one : "Drop the donuts!!! Look, there goes a ghost! It's headed towards the gym!"

Well, at least some of them were nice on that website.

For her part, Jennifer Love Hewitt, has posted a response on her website saying, "I've sat by in silence for a long time now about the way women's bodies are constantly scrutinized. To set the record straight, I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image. A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful." She says the photographers took "invasive pictures at bad angles."

Can't a famous person hang out on the beach without worrying about photos like these? And, she's right to talk about the scrutiny. There are so many people out there with eating disorders who want to look like stick thin celebrities. "I know what I look like, and so do my friends and family." She writes, "And like all women out there should, I love my body."

Have you walked around a mall lately? Jennifer Love Hewitt is far from fat. Hopefully she can go on vacation somewhere away from the photographers and turn off her computer. In the meantime, she gave a challenge to people, writing, "To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini -- put it on and stay strong."

Yep, the media is out of control on this, and sadly, teen girls are eating it up with a spoon thinking it's just they way things are.

All shapes and sizes are seen on the many naturists beaches in the world and no one bats an eyelash. There is too much obsession with weight in this country, whether one is famous or not. Extremes (obesity and anorexia) may be the unpleasant and unhealthy exception, but something in between cannot be all that bad!

yeah- there were much worse than cottage cheese on that site so i didn't use them.

"Cottage Cheese" is a "brutal" remark?? Jeez, if I was that sensitive I'd be suicidal.

It's tough being a celebrity...they have no privacy...people can be so rude too. They forget that celebrities are human beings too :(

Most of the people complaining about her weight were probably overweight themselves! If we could only see them sitting behind their computer screens. They're probably munching on king-size candy bars or chips as they complain about someone who might be five pounds overweight. I'd rather see someone with a little meat on their bones than to see bones protruding. That's not attractive or healthy. Great reporting!

Jennifer L.H. is one of the most beautiful women in the world. I've been impressed with her curvier self. Indeed, some people need real lives.

People complain when stars put on weight, and then they complain when they look like the Olsen twins. I wish they'd make up their minds already. Great reporting of this, I read about it somewhere else yesterday.
