Everyone, regardless of social class, worries about their weight. Out of the mass amount of people who are focusing in on their weight arise the entrepreneurs who are producing and implementing the tools needed to achieve it in its "ideal" sense. These tools include products and plans that allow their users to feel better about themselves through acting as a temporary guide to their quest for obtaining the ideal weight. These temporary guides are known as "fad diets."
Knowing the positive and negative aspects of a particular diet plan is important for people to be made aware of prior to following its guidelines. However, the most successful way for a person to achieve his/her goal of obtaining the ideal weight is to live a life which incorporates good eating habits and frequent exercise into it. By eating properly and exercising on a regular basis people are able to achieve their goal while living a healthy and positive life. In other words, the journey to losing weight is one that is infinite in that it becomes part of a person's lifestyle rather than a temporary burden.
People who plan on achieving long term weight loss goals need to alter the thinking that the media tries to instill within them. The media along with other diet plan "gurus" tend to preach to the masses. However, society consists of many individuals who require diet plans that are specifically tailored to each one of them. The selection process of choosing and/or creating a diet that is appropriate to an individual is a complex process that requires research, dedication, and devotion. The ideal weight is obtained through one's acceptance of creating and maintaining a personalized lifestyle plan which incorporates a healthy diet and a beneficial exercise routine into it. Therefore, a "fad" dieter is unable to achieve long term success while following the inhibiting and unrealistic guidelines that are often dictated by short term plans.
A "fad" dieter can be defined as an individual who is looking for "quick" results while doing minimal work to obtain them. There are a plethora of these types of diets on the market. The obtainment of information about them is readily available and is often thrust upon American society through venues such as television, magazines, and radio. Some of these popular diet plans include the following: Atkins, Mediterranean, and the Cabbage Soup Diet.
