In conjunction with proper diet and exercise, weight loss hypnosis can safely augment your weight loss efforts. Successfully shedding pounds can be as much mental as physical, so mental conditioning can play a significant role in any weight loss program. Hypnosis weight loss addresses the root of unhealthy food cravings and can contribute to a long-term change in eating habits and lifestyle.

Diet pills, supplements and restrictive diets may produce immediate results, but are only a quick fix at best. Certain compounds found within both prescription and over the counter diet pills can be particularly harmful. For example, Ephedra based fat burners such as Stacker 2, Xenadrine and Ripped Fuel have the potential to cause heart, liver and kidney failure if abused excessively. In addition, certain stimulant based diet pills can lead to metabolic disruption and dependence.

The bottom line is that our bodies require a variety of nutrients and a certain amount of calories to function at optimum level. Weight loss occurs when we burn more calories than we consume. Exercise and healthy eating play a key role in this process. Consuming a variety of healthy, low fat foods, in addition to regular physical activity, helps us to build more lean muscle tissue. Since muscle requires more fuel to sustain itself, the more lean muscle we have, the more calories we are able to burn. This is a safe and effective way to lose weight. Tampering with the body's delicate chemistry by ingesting artificial substances and eliminating entire food groups from your diet is never a good idea.

Weight loss hypnotherapy is simply a way to reprogram your attitude towards food. For instance, you may associate food with boredom relief or view eating as a cure for anxiety or depression. You may not even consciously realize that you are making these connections. During hypnosis, as you move into a heightened state of mental awareness, , the real motivating factors behind your eating habits are uncovered.

Paring the word hypnosis with a term like "heightened mental awareness" may seem like a contradiction. However, contrary to popular belief, hypnosis has nothing at all to do with sleep. In reality, weight loss hypnotherapy, like any other hypnosis treatment, involves bringing the patient to a more suggestive and open state of consciousness. Essentially, hypnosis filters through the "white noise" of every day life and induces a state of clarity in the patient's mind. Weight control hypnotherapy allows the patient to examine motivating triggers that he or she may be unaware of or afraid to admit.

Essentially, weight loss hypnosis uses guided mental imagery to achieve its goal. The hypnotist will usually begin with some relaxation exercises to put the patient at ease. He or she may ask the patient to imagine themselves descending a beautiful marble staircase, moving into a deeper level of consciousness with each step. The specific image may vary, but the end result is the same. During the course of hypnosis weight loss, the hypnotist will ask the patient to examine the motivating factors behind their attitude towards eating and food. For example, if the patient says, " I eat because I'm bored and upset.", the hypnotist will then introduce a new association such as, "I eat when I'm hungry. I enjoy food, but it is not the center of my life." The patient then repeats this declaration to enforce the new mental attitude.

Although weight loss hypnosis can be a significant weight loss technique, it is not a quick fix. New associations and connections with food can be introduced, but also need to be maintained through diligent mental exercise. This process can be as simple as repeating statements made during the hypnosis session whenever the desire to overeat occurs, such as, "I only want to eat right now because I'm bored. I'm not really hungry." It is just as important to train your "mental muscles" as it is to train the physical.

Think of weight loss hypnosis as the first step in a long journey. With the extra motivation that weight loss hypnotherapy provides, a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, you will be sure to achieve your weight loss goals safely and effectively.
