Recently, I browsed a social networking website and saw an ad for weight loss hypnosis. I was intrigued, since I have known people who quit smoking as a result of hypnosis therapy. I had to research weight loss hypnosis and safety of it, as it was a weight management tool I was not already familiar with.
What is weight loss hypnosis? The first thing I learned about weight loss hypnosis is that you will not be hypnotized to cluck like a chicken. According to MayoClinic.com, hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness. A hypnotherapist will perform hypnosis in sessions, and one has to go through a gradual process in order to be hypnotized. Through hypnosis, a trained expert gets into the subliminal state of a person which makes that person focused. Weight loss hypnosis allows a trained hypnotist to get the person to respond to suggestibility due to intense concentration.
Obviously, I wondered just how much weight a person can lose by being hypnotized. Does weight loss hypnosis work? Weight loss hypnosis is not a magical cure that makes a person weigh less overnight. In fact, hypnosis is a gradual process and should be used as a combined weight loss method. Combining hypnosis with exercise and a healthy diet will bring on weight loss results.
A big question I had about weight loss hypnosis was about safety of this method. While some websites offer free hypnosis downloads, I was concerned that this method should not be done without supervision. There are in fact many trained experts and hypnosis therapists that offer weight loss hypnosis services. Also, by doing hypnosis program with a trained individual you can have many questions answered in regards to the hypnosis concept and all factors behind this method.
As far as effectiveness of weight loss hypnosis goes, MayoClinic.com reports that studies have been done with positive but modest results. It is important to stress that weight loss hypnosis is not a magical cure to bulge battle. It will not make you lose weight overnight, but it can be combined with other tools to help you reach a weight loss goal.
Weight loss hypnosis makes a person more responsive to suggestions and it helps eliminate behaviors such as unnecessary snacking or extra calorie intake.
Overall, weight loss hypnosis seems to be a promising and effective tool for losing weight. Hypnosis is safe when performed by a trained expert, who can explain how weight loss hypnosis exactly works and the gradual process behind this method. Combined with exercise and a healthy diet, weight loss hypnosis can help a person successfully shed weight.
