Weight Loss Journey: Prelude

OC
I am embarking on a 12-week weight loss journey in order to live a better and longer life. I have not always been overweight. In my teens, I played soccer and was in phenomenal shape. I was the only 6th grader with a six-pack. I had to take a year off from playing soccer due to an injury. During that year, I was very inactive. I didn't have any soccer practices to go to so I would just stay home, sit on the couch, watch television, and eat whatever came towards my mouth. I gained about 50 pounds in one year. I gained weight so fast that my body is covered with stretch marks. I gained another 50 pounds the following year. I was at 220 when I decided I wanted to do something about my weight. I started working out with my sister and eating well. The first week I lost 10 pounds. The second week I lost 5 more pounds. Then my sister started the nursing program and I did not have anyone to workout with so I stopped working out and eating well. I got a part time job and I maintained my weight at 205 pounds. After I stopped working, I had nothing else to do but eat. I gained 45 pounds in 4 months.

One day I saw my body in the mirror and I saw that the stretch marks from my waist had connected with the stretch marks from my armpits. I knew that if I kept it up, I'd get to the point where I'd be bedridden. I had to do something about it. And now I am going to try to change my life around. I got a yearlong gym membership and am going to take advantage of it. My dad's friend is a personal trainer and he said he would train me for free. I am really excited about my new journey. I know that this time around I will not quit. Today was the beginning of my journey and I burned 1000 calories and did a little bit of weight training. I kid you not, I threw up after my workout. That's how great of a workout it was.

Every Saturday I will weigh in, measure myself and I will post my results on here. My current weight is 250 pounds. I did not know what it was that I was supposed to measure so I only measured my neck, my wrists (only because they are humongous and I want to see the change), chest, waist, and my stomach (from my belly button).

My sizes (in inches) are:

Neck: 17

Left wrist: 8 ¼

Right wrist: 8 ¼

Chest: 48 ½

Waist: 44

Stomach: 48 ¾
