Blood pressure is proportional to one's body weight, as your weight increases so does your blood pressure. High blood pressure is just the first sign of other serious diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. If you are starting to get high blood pressure you must act now, or it will get worse.
Stopping the rise of the pressure
One of the first things to do to reduce the blood pressure is to lose the weight. Weight loss is a great prevention, and as we all know from the old saying, "a stitch in time saves nine" it is better to prevent the disease than to try to cure it.
The problem is not just extra weight; it is also where you store the weight. When you lose weight, you assist your body in regulating its metabolism. This in turn regulates your blood pressure.
The simple facts
Weight loss is accomplished by eating fewer calories than you use. According to the side of my cereal box, an active person will need 2500 calories a day. This means a not so active person will need way less than that. To lose weight, you will need to eat even less.
The other ingredient in successful weight loss is activity. Your body has to move to burn the calories. Any calories you have not used are stored as fat. To un-store the fat, you will need more activity. It is better to use the calories you ingest than it is to try to burn off fat later.
Being active controls your weight
An active lifestyle will burn more calories and will be far more effective at weight loss than just eating less. The other side benefit of being active is that your heart will be stronger and your blood pressure will be normal.
I know, you did not want to hear the word exercise; you were looking for a way to cure your high blood pressure and weight issues without having to hear the word exercise. Sorry, but it is just a fact of life, if you are sedentary you will not get your weight loss and your blood pressure will stay up.
Do something today
Stop your shuddering and quit looking for an escape, you are not being asked to join a gym, reroof your house, or run a marathon. You are being told to get active, to go for a walk, to take a bicycle for a long ride, to go swim, or dance. Then do it every day for the rest of your life.
