The FDA has issued a warning that a weight loss product, Fruta Planta, is being recalled by the manufacturer following consumer complaints. Reports indicate there have been cardiac events and one death connected to the Fruta Planta weight loss product.

The FDA tested the Fruta Planta weight loss product and determined it contained sibutramine. This is a drug that was once available by prescription and used for weight loss.

According to the FDA report PRock Marketing LLC is recalling all products labeled as Fruta Planta and Reduce Weight Fruta Planta. These are the same products, but marketed under different brand names.

Consumers in possession of Fruta Planta or Reduce Weight Fruta Planta should stop using these products. Anyone disposing of these recalled products should be certain they are packaged in a manner that would protect animals or other humans.

The recalled Fruta Planta and Reduce Weight Fruta Planta are harmful products because the ingredient sibutramine can raise blood pressure and pulse rate in some people. Taking a product containing sibutramine may lead to a serious health reaction or death in consumers with congestive heart failure or heart disease.

According to the FDA report, Fruta Planta was available online at a company website called frutaplanta.com and other online sites. The sites are not offering the products following the release of the health concern.

Consumers with questions about the recalled Fruta Planta may reach someone at the company from Monday through Friday by calling 877-225-1009. Calls are answered from 10 AM until 4:30 PM.
