Step #1 - Contact a Fitness Center
If your bridal party is scattered throughout the country then contact a fitness center that is a national chain. Talk to them about setting up a program that can be linked to the various cities where your bridal party members live. You may even be able to get a discount by setting up a wedding weight loss program for all of your bridal party members. The fitness center will be your gurus for wedding weight loss, and they will provide your bridesmaids and you with guidance towards fitness, they will help you to chart your progress and they will provide you with information that you need to stay healthy as you lose weight.
Step #2 - Make It a Team Sport
Support is a critical factor for most successful weight loss programs. Since you are under the gun to lose weight by a specific date you need the support of your girlfriends to get the job done. Look at your wedding weight loss as a team sport. Create work out outfits for your team, plan weekly gab sessions to talk about accomplishments and struggles and plan special activities to test your new fitness levels.
Step #3 - Plan Group Activities
If your bridesmaids live near you then you can plan group activities to make exercise more fun. For example, you can walk together several times a week, you can ride bikes together or you can plan to train for and compete in road races and other sporting events as a team or as individuals. You can also plan more adventurous outdoor activities like climbing a mountain, hiking in the backcountry or swimming in the ocean.
Step #4 - Keep It Fun
One of the problems that most weight loss programs face is that the exercise becomes boring and you lose your motivation. To keep your wedding weight loss program on track for all of your bridal party members you need to keep things fun, interesting and exciting. This means trying new physical activities. For example, you can try belly dancing, boxing, martial arts, adventure sports or endurance sports. You can also shake things up by having each member in your weight loss group select an activity each week. This means that you select the activity for Monday, bridesmaid A selects the activity for Wednesday and bridesmaid B selects the activity for Friday.
Step #5 - Challenge Yourself
It is normal to hit plateaus when you are trying to lose weight. The key to overcoming these plateaus is to challenge your body. As your fitness level improves your body will need more challenging workouts in order to show improvements.
