Weight Loss Tips for you and your Loved Ones
Whether your and your intended are planning to shed a few pounds for your wedding day or a much-deserved vacation,
or you and your significant other have just decided that it's time to get in shape, there are a few steps you should
follow to make sure that you and your partner are successful. Even if your weight loss or newly adopted fitness
habits are for the whole family, it's important to take everyone's wants and needs into consideration when coming up
with a weight loss plan that is best for everyone.
Remember that the slower the change, the better the results.
Of course, this doesn't mean that you should change so slowly that you are not attempting to alter your lifestyle or
dietary habits at all - simply thinking about making the change won't take the weight off or cause you to have more
energy throughout the day. Sit down with your partner or your family and come up with a timeline to either lose a
certain amount of weight or to eliminate certain foods from the diet. This way, you can check on one another and lean
on one another for support.
Exercise together - and make it fun!!
If you and your partner or family members are not exactly fans of the gym, don't worry; you can still get a great
workout by walking, running, hiking, or bike riding. You can even make a fun vacation or mini-getaway out of
exercising in order to make the process more fun for everyone involved, even if you do go the gym a few times a
week. Discuss the activities that you think would be enjoyable for you and your partner, and try to select
activities that will bring you closer as a couple and a family. For instance, you may want to take swimming or dance
classes together, so that you can learn a new skill with the one(s) you love, and find ways to practice that new
skill together outside of class.
Plan your menu carefully.
Depending on how rapidly you want to lose weight, you'll have to start cutting certain things out of your diet right
away. This doesn't mean that you should necessary stop cold turkey (unless you've done it before and know you can),
but foods with high amounts of 'bad' fat and cholesterol should be eliminated as soon as possible. Instead, try to
cook lean meats and to use oils that are healthy for you, should as olive or canola oils. You should also increase
your intake of raw fruits and vegetables each day, to supply the body with more antioxidants, and to help you burn
fat more efficiently. Be sure to get everyone's input on the foods they like and dislike, and try your hand at
making some healthy alternatives to some of your family's favorite foods. You and your significant other may even
want to take turns in the kitchen preparing new and healthy meals that may become new family favorites. You may also
want to add certain things to your diet to keep your system healthy, such as flax seeds, which are a great source of
fiber, or aloe vera juice, which is known for sweeping impurities from the body.
In addition to these things, be sure to keep a log or journal of your progress as a couple or a family, so that you
can help one another work on the things that may be challenging. Be sure to check your blood pressure and heart rate
as well while you exercise and change your diet, to chart the progress that you are making with your overall
health - not just the weight loss.
