Violet Zaki leads the Cardio Kick and Cardio Sculpt DVD's. Violet is an international fitness expert, black belt in karate, star trainer on Exercise TV and teaches at Equinox in New York City. She emphasizes proper technique and fitness goals.
Kristin McGee leads the Pilates DVD. Kristin is a Pilates master instructor and celebrity trainer for LeAnn Rimes, Soledad O'Brien and Steve Martin. The Created the popular MTV fitness workouts and teaches in New York City's top fitness centers: Equinox, Sport Club LA, Clay and Reebok.
Cardio Sculpt incorporates both cardio and strength training into two 20-minute workouts. There are also warm up and cool down sections. There is a bonus section that includes easy, fun activites you can do trhoughout the day to increase your calorie burn. There is also an eight minute bonus Ab Challenge you can do. The DVD is 50 minutes in length.
Cardio Kick defines your arms, shoulders and back using light hand weights and a variety of punches. Kicks target the inner and outer thighs and lift and tighten the glutes. Like the Cardio Sculpt, there are two 20-minute workouts, warm up and cool down sections. The DVD is 50 minutes in length.
Pilates uses traditional Pilates exercises with calorie-burning cardio blasts to keep your heart rate escalated. This allows you to tone muscle and burn fat at the same time. The DVD contains two 20-minute pilates and cardio workouts and is 50 minutes in length.
Each DVD offers the ability to layer workouts using your DVD remote so you have the option of doing a warmup, workout and cool down or simply focussing on the workout or any variety of these. The longest individual workout is 20 minutes in length. By adding in the warm up & cool down sections, it makes each workout 31 minutes instead of 20.
The workouts are very easy to follow for the most part. The instructors show each move once before incorporating it into the workout. There is an alternate "modification" exercise for those that are new to exercise or are dealing with health issues. Cardio Sculpt and Cario Kick both use light weights in their routines.
If you're a beginner to exercise, you may want to follow the modification exercises included with these workout DVD's. Having a background in martial arts, I found the Cardio Kick to be the most enjoyable of the three DVD's. I had the most problem with the Pilates DVD since some of the core exercises focus heavily on abdominal muscles that I just don't have.
