I've always enjoyed sweet foods in the mornings, such as a pastries. Unfortunately, that's not the healthiest way to start your mornings. Thankfully, I recently stumbled across Weight Watchers line of snack cakes. While they might not be the best thing to have for breakfast, they allow me to have a sweet treat along with my morning fruit without having a breakfast that has a high PointsPlus value. But, would Weight Watchers Carrot Cr¨me Cakes really be that good since they were so low in fat and calories?
When I opened the box of Weight Watchers Carrots Cr¨me Cakes I was stunned at the size. I know the box contains six cakes, but boy these were tiny. They are about have the size of a Twinkie. However, the cakes did look tasty. There was a strip of cream cheese icing across the top of the cake and I could see real pieces of carrot in the cake, which make it look even more appealing.
With the first bite, I was immediately disappointed. These cakes are quite dry, even with the cream cheese frosting in the center. You definitely need a bottle of water to wash these down with. The cake did have a pleasant flavor though and the touch of cream cheese icing offered a pleasing flavor combination.
One cake has 90 calories, 3 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans-fat, 13mg of cholesterol, 70mg of sodium, 17 grams of carbohydrates, 4 grams of fiber, 11 grams of sugar, 1 gram of protein, 2% of your daily Vitamin A, 10% of your daily calcium and a PointsPlus value of only 2.
I would have to give these snack cakes 3 out 5 stars. For diet food, they weren't too bad, but they weren't too great either. I don't think I'll be buying them again, but I do recommend trying them so you can see for yourself if this is a cake you would enjoy. I also have to say that with a PointsPlus value of only 2, I can enjoy these cakes with some fruit without worrying about having to watch my points too closely for the rest of the day.
