I'm not the type that succeeds at weight loss by giving up all my favorite foods. I think that's why I'm doing so well on the Weight Watchers plan. Not only does the plan allow me to eat my favorite foods, but Weight Watchers also has several snacks of their own that makes the process easier. One of the snacks I recently decided to try was the Chocolate Caramel Mini Bar. I love chocolate and caramel so this seemed like a great bar to try. Unfortunately, after my last experience with the Chocolate Pretzel Blast Bar, I didn't have high hopes.
The bar was a pretty good size, measuring around the same size as a fun-sized candy bar, only thinner and wider. When I bit into the bar, I was immediately reminded of Slim Fast Bars. I don't know if the two companies use the same chocolate coating, but they are definitely similar. I did enjoy the chewy texture, but the taste of the chocolate coating was a turn off. And, honestly, I don't know if I would have known there was a caramel filling unless I had read the package.
Another turn off of the bar was the amount of ingredients. While I admire the fact that the company strives to make a candy that is low in calories and fat, I am highly disappointed that so many ingredients needed to be used.
One Weight Watchers Chocolate Caramel Mini Bar has 80 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans-fat, less than 5mg of cholesterol, 45mg of sodium, 70mg of potassium, 14 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 8 grams of sugar, 1 gram of sugar alcohol, 1 gram of protein and a PointsPlus value of 2.
I would have to give this snack 3 out of 5 stars. The taste was average and the amount of ingredients used was staggering. I really can't recommend these bars. At a price of $7.50 for a box of 12, I think you're better off sticking with some of the other low calorie snacks on the market.
