Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Dulce De Leche Ice Cream Bars Review

Amy Brantley
My weight loss goals are important to me, but being a foodie means that the taste of food is also important. I know I won't stick with a diet that includes bland tasting food and no treats. That's why I love Weight Watchers. In fact, I was eating Weight Watchers snacks when I was on a low calorie diet. Recently, I had the chance to try several of the company's latest ice cream bar flavors. One of the flavors I got to try was Dark Chocolate Dulce de Leche. I must admit, I had recently had a piece of dulce de leche cheesecake at a local restaurant, so these bars had quite a bit to live up to. Could they do it at a PointsPlus value of 3 compared to the cheesecake that had a value of 18?

These bars are smaller than the Giant Fudge and Latte Ice Cream Bars I was used to. However, just like the Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Bars, these bars pack quite a flavorful punch. To imagine the flavor of these bars, think of the best caramel swirled ice cream you've ever had. Now imagine that it was dipped in a dark chocolate coating. The creaminess of the caramel ice cream with the sweetness of the caramel swirl and the slight bitterness of the dark chocolate is almost too much to endure. Without a doubt, these bars are delicious and they come very, very close to the cheesecake I had the other night. In fact, I would much rather choose these bars because they have such a low PointsPlus value.

If you're wondering about nutrition, one Dark Chocolate Dulce de Leche Ice Cream Bar has 120 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans-fat, less than 5mg of cholesterol, 45mg of sodium, 105mg of potassium, 19 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 14 grams of sugar, 2 grams of protein, 2% of your daily Vitamin A, 6% of your daily calcium and a PointsPlus value of 3.

I do have to comment that these bars do contain high fructose corn syrup. I hope this is something that the company will consider changing in the near future.

I have to give these bars 4.5 out of 5 stars. They are absolutely perfect, except for the inclusion of HFCS. If you want a sweet treat that won't wreck your waistline and is low in calories, fat and carbs, this is certainly a tasty choice.
