Weight Watchers Low Point Meal and Snack Ideas: Updated

Juliegirl
It has been several months since I wrote my last article Weight Watchers Low Point Meal and Snack Ideas. Since then I have come across several more great snack and low point food ideas that I wanted to share with you. This is the new and updated article.

I bought the fat free cream cheese one time because I really like cream cheese and thought this would be better to have and would be lower in points. I was wrong! In my opinion, fat free cream cheese is nasty. I would rather not eat any cream cheese than eat the fat free kind. So, once again, I did some checking. I bought the cream cheese with chives and for 2 tbs. it is 3 pts. I only eat 1 tbs. for 1 ½ pts. That still may seem like a lot but when I put it on a slice of the double fiber bread it is only a combined total of 3 pts. If you add some fruit or other low point food to it, it makes a great breakfast.

I just recently was introduced to Fiber Plus bars. They are loaded with fiber which makes the points value very low. I have been buying the chocolate chip kind and they are so good! For 1 bar it is only 2 pts. They also have dark chocolate. Right now all of the boxes have a $1.00 off coupon on the back. They are in the cereal and granola bar aisle.

On that same aisle I found a box of Fiber One poptarts. The regular poptarts, as you may know, is 4 pts. for 1 poptart and 8 for the 2. The Fiber One is only 3 pts. for 1 and 6 for two. Better point values than the regular poptarts. They do taste good which is always important.

Something else came to my attention that seems so common sense to me but I have never thought of until a friend of mine told me about it. She enjoys scrambled eggs for breakfast but they are so high in points. What she does is use 1 or 2 whole eggs and then adds 3 egg whites to it. You still get the color of eggs but not all of the points. You can use some spray butter and maybe put in a little bit of chopped green onions, salt and pepper. Very good!

In my earlier article I mentioned the Banquet meals. Just the other day I noticed that Banquet had a new frozen dinner out. It was chicken and black beans and rice. The points value on that was only 4 pts.! It was very delicious too!

Also in my previous article I mentioned turkey chili. They now have a 99% fat free turkey chili that is only 3 pts. for a whole cup! I am not sure if they have always had this and I just never saw it, or if it is something they just came out with. Either way, I love it! You can read my review of this chili in an upcoming article.

A good dessert that is low in points is pound cake, strawberries and fat free cool whip. I have been buying the pound cake that is shaped like a rectangle in the baker's section at my store. The serving size says 5, but I make it into 10. Doing it this way makes each slice about 1 ½ pts. Strawberries are 1 pt. for one cup and fat free cool whip is 0. This makes a very good low point snack or dessert.

Speaking of snacks, I am still always on the look out for low point tasty snacks. I broke out my points calculator the other day and was very happy to find out that bean dip is not very high in points. You can have around 1/4 of a cup for like 1 point. Pair that with corn chips ( usually around 15) it makes a low point snack. Getting the baked chips will make it even less points.

Another dip that I like and decided to check points of it is the Tostitos brand Spinach Dip. You can have about 1/4 c. for around 2 pts. I had always just assumed it was way more points than that. Just goes to show that it pays to use your points calculator and find out.

I do have to make an amendment to my earlier article. In that article I stated that the fat free pudding was only 1 point. I believe it is 2 pts. Now there may be another brand out that is 1 pt, but I know the Jello brand fat free pudding is 2.

I have also come across several off brand 100 calorie snacks that are very good and low in price. I found a Farley's brand 100 calorie mini pack of cupcakes. For 3 mini cupcakes it is only 1 pt. They are very good and make a great snack! I found them on the same aisle as the Weight Watchers snacks on the bottom shelf.

I know I mentioned the Weight Watchers giant fudge bar in my last article. Since then I have found another fudge bar that is only 1 pt. too. It is the Fudgsicle brand. You get 8 Fudgsicles for $1.50. The only draw back is they are not as big as the giant WW fudge bar. It is great when you can't afford the WW brand snacks.

I have been searching for a low point cereal but haven't came across any that I really like. I have been eating the regular cereal and it isn't that bad point wise. Usually for 3/4 c. or ½ c. with about ½ c. milk it is only 3 pts. I use the 2% milk. I did try the fat free milk once because I thought it would be a lot less points but it actually only made about a half a point difference. The taste was also a lot different. I stick with 2%.

In the earlier article I mentioned how much I really like the Diet Root Beer. I still do, but upon researching how bad aspartame is I am trying to stay away from it. I have been drinking some Diet Rite which is made with Splenda.

I mentioned water mix in's in the other article. I have found some more mix ins that I also really like. They are fruit punch ones. They are right next to the crystal light and great value brands. I like the blue, grape and orange. The blue is probably my favorite. They are also all sugar free.

Another thing I realized is that chocolate milk isn't as loaded with points as I thought it would be. 2 tbs. Of Nesquik is only 1 pt. Depending on how much milk you want you can have chocolate milk for around 3 pts. Now that may seem like a lot but if you like chocolate milk you can still have it every now and then. Especially when you pair with it fruit or 0 -1 pt. foods.

Note: If you have trouble finding Weight Watchers coupons you can buy them at Ebay for a good price. I have done this a few times. You can usually get several coupons for a low price.
