So my weigh in gave me a 2.2 pound loss for a total since early December of nearly 12 pounds. Tonight I hit a milestone, since joining Weight Watchers over three years ago, I lost a total of 25 pounds which gave me a goal that seemed unreachable before the new program.
The new PointsPlus program gives so much more choices and the fact that the least amount of PPV's for a day are 29 with a weekly allotment of 49 for those extras that we just need. Tonight was a special night for us Weight Watchers girls because one of our clerks was leaving us to get married. So the eight of us took her to Applebee's because we could have a good meal with not that many PPV's and leave satisfied. They have a 550 calorie menu where none of the choices have more than 550 calories. I wrote down the entire total PPV's for each of the choices and I chose the teriyaki shrimp with pasta which came out to be 12 points, but I had several points left including 36 bonus PPV's left.
Diet soda cost me no PPV's and I'm not much of a soda drinker any longer anyway, so it lasted the entire meal. After dinner we decided to have dessert which consisted of three choices of a "shooter" which is a bit larger than a shot glass with a dessert inside. There were three choices; chocolate mousse, hot fudge and strawberry shortcake. This was just a few bites and a nice ending to a great meal with great friends.
When I got home, I checked the PPV's of the shooters and yipes!!! The chocolate mousse that I had was 13 PPV's, the hot fudge and the strawberry shortcake was each 11 PPV's. So glad I saved my weekly points for this splurge.
I recommend that if you are going to a restaurant, check their website and plan ahead. Knowing ahead of time what you would like to order, will help you stay on program. If they do not offer the nutrition information, then order wisely and check the Dining Out Companion or the Weight Watchers website if you have eTools. Don't be afraid to ask questions as to how a dish is prepared and ask for what you want, don't just settle. If possible, be the first to order so you are not swayed by other's choices.
I will be putting together another part of this series in another day or so to catch you up with the weekly magazines that I received for this week and last week. Until then, happy weight watching!
