Weight Watchers New PointsPlus (+) Program ~ My Story ~ Part 12

Glad I Returned to Finish the Job!

This week the meeting topic discussed the importance of portion sizes. The leader demonstrated three bowls of cereal; one in a small bowl, one in a medium size bowl and one in a large soup bowl. She asked by a show of hands which bowl each of us would choose. The funny thing was that each bowl contained a cup of cereal. So by eyeballing the cereal it was difficult to tell if we were getting the correct amount of food unless we properly measure to find out. Many of the continuing members as well as the lifetime members have the new Weight Watchers digital scale and use it as their primary source of portioning. Almost everyone has the Weight Watchers measuring spoons and I am among them. I love the measuring spoons because they look just like any other serving spoons/ladles and can be used anytime and nobody knows but us.

So how did I do on the scale? I lost another .6 of a pound which is more than a half of a pound. But it is going in the right direction. So far since before Christmas, I have now lost a total of 13 pounds and since I joined Weight Watchers; a total of 26.8 pounds.

The Weight Watchers weekly magazine contained two headlines: "Walk this Way" and "Out to Eat?"

For "Walk this Way" is dedicated to moving more by Jessica Wozinsky, Associated Editor of Weight Watchers Magazine. She urges us to maximize our walking form with five drills; keep head high, don't forget to breathe, bend arms and swing back and forth, walk heal to toe in a fluid motion and don't forget to warm up and cool down.

"Out to Eat" features advice from Leslie Fink, MS, RD, the recipe editor of WeightWatchers.com who suggests that we order an appetizer as an entrée to save calories and pair it with a vegetable, salad or baked potato. Eat at family style restaurants and ask for a salad plate. A cup of pasta will look like so much more on a smaller plate. Lastly, if you order soup, ask for a teaspoon rather than a tablespoon/soup spoon, it will take longer to eat and be more satisfying.

So hopefully we will see you again next week and more wonderful results and self confidence.
