Weight Watchers Smart Ones Frozen Meal Options: A Healthy and Somewhat Appetizing Choice

An Honest Review of Two Weight Watchers Entrees

Aimee E
Weight Watchers manufacturers a variety of frozen entrée and dessert options which come packaged in a red box with an associated points value displayed. Not only are traditional American favorites such as pot roast, chicken, and brownies available, but ethnic foods like sweet and sour chicken, calzones, and Italian-style pastas are also offered.

As someone who is actively in the process of trying to loose weight, I decided to purchase some Weight Watchers products and see if, while they were comparable in price; were also comparable in taste and quality. The results were mixed, however, a few performed better than others.

First, for meal options, I decided to purchase a box of Weight Watchers Cheese Ziti and Weight Watchers Spinach and Cheese Ravioli. Both were cooked according to instructions, and while the ziti had approximately 100 calories more than the ravioli, it was definitely for a reason. When cooked, the ravioli was dry and tasteless. Its accompanying sauce was very spicy and I ended up having to wash the sauce off of the individual pastas and eat them plain. I definitely would not recommend this dish.

However, I was pleasantly surprised with the ziti. It cooked well and the cheese did not stick to the plastic cooking cover. When cooked, it stirred well and was a good mixture of pasta, sauce and cheese. The taste was superior to any other frozen pasta, both high-end and low-end that I have ever had. I highly recommend this product for its generous amounts of cheese and mild cheese-based tomato sauce.
