Fortunately, the base where we were stationed at was very supportive of a program called Weight Watchers. Once a week, a representative would come to the post and hold a meeting for the current members and for anyone else who wanted to learn more about the program. I went to a Weight Watchers meeting the following week. I met the current members who were using the Weight Watchers Online program and they had nothing but good things to say about it. However, they did tell me that you did have to stick to your personal Weight Watchers plan to be able to see results.
The type of program that our base sponsored was for Weight Watchers online. I would get the website information from the representative and would be up to me to decide if I wanted to join the program or not. The representative that came on post was basically there for the group moral support and to attract new clients.
I was curious about the Weight Watchers online program. I went to the website and signed up for a six month membership. You use the Weight Watchers online tools to input your personal information like your height, weight, age, and the target amount of weight that you want to lose. I was currently weighing 135 pounds and I wanted to get back down to 115-120 to meet the military height and weight standards. After I inputted my information, the Weight Watchers program told me that I had 21 points per day that I could eat. Also, I had 25 free points that I could use up anyway I wanted throughout the week and for each 15 minute of exercise I did then I would be allowed 3 more points for that day. This is where I learned that according to the Weight Watchers program, all food is given a certain point value. For example, an 8oz glass of 2% milk was going to cost me two points. I know that this sounds like a lot of points per day, but it is difficult to maintain when you are tracking down everything that you are putting into your body.
Tracking your food intake is the hardest part of the Weight Watchers program. The Weight Watchers program is designed to show you what you are eating and if it is healthy for you or not. You are forced to see what you are eating everyday and if it is good for your body or not. I was discouraged for the first couple of days using the Weight Watchers online program. I felt like I wasn't able to eat enough of anything to get full. However, this made me realize that my personal diet before using the Weight Watchers program wasn't health at all. My diet before Weight Watcher's consisted of a lot of sweets, chips, and sodas.
I stuck to the Weight Watcher's program and incorporated exercise into it. I would work out in the morning. Some mornings I would run and some mornings I would work on muscle strength. The Weight Watcher's program made me start thinking about what I was eating and helped me to make right choices. For example, I could have 8 oz of carrots or a small piece of chocolate for the same amount of points. Thanks to the Weight Watcher's plan, I was able to get back down to 118 pounds and maintain that weight. I was so excited to see my body change over time.
I recommend the Weight Watchers online program to anyone who wants to shed some extra weigh off of their bodies. The Weight Watcher's online program only works if you are strong enough to stick with the program and incorporate some exercise into it. You have to stick to the number of points that you are allowed to have per day and be aware of the foods that you are eating. The Weight Watcher's online program was perfect for me because I had the will power to lose the weight and my exercise program helped me to shed the weight a little faster. Honestly, it will take time to see results so please don't get discouraged. Believe me, with some will power, you will have no problems losing the extra weight and will end up loving the Weight Watcher's program.
