Weight of Writers

Iris Amelia
Your handwriting, peppered on the blackboard,
decides to be neat today
Chalk dust lingers on your fingers
until it is brushed off onto your pants
You speak, kindness pours
And excitement grows along with your crescendos
It's a shame I must ignore you and capture the writing on the board

----

How can you live the way you do?
You need a locker attached to your back
perhaps sewn on, a la Frankenstein
with a tight metal thread--
You're no monster, but you ravage through Keats and Walt, Emmey is probably in there too
You carry the weight of writers and I wonder how much more you can take
