The Weimaraner became accepted by the AKC in 1943. German nobles bred this dog to hunt large game in the 19th century. Half of their brains are devoted to the sense of smell. These dogs were bred to run and are said to have "almost human brains". They are very intelligent and unpredictable animals. Because of their high intelligence they are easily distracted and always looking for activity and different things to do with themselves. The puppy's eyes are blue and then turn to a yellow or amber color. Their coat is short, sleek, and silvery. Their colors are silver, gray or taupe tones.
