The news has two stories of stark contrasts and how the media treats each, and more importantly, the efforts behind each, are telling. The Palin emails are all the rage and for a time yesterday, actually knocked Weinergate off the top spot in the headlines of various online news sites.
First let's review the latest in the Anthony Weiner saga...seems he was also texting an underage girl. To many Democrat's credit they are calling for Weiner to hit the bricks and frankly, based on the past treatment of politicians who've behaved similarly, seems fair and equitable. Florida Republican Mark Foley was drummed out of Congress for texting male House pages, so Weiner's actions, especially considering at least one of those receiving his tweets is an underage female, is certainly fair treatment...good for the goose and all that.
And now in an effort to save himself and go the Hollywood celebrity route, he is entering a program to get help for his proclivities. What "proclivities" I ask? Trying to hook up? That needs treatment? Heck, sign me up! Of course he is married and a Congressman and his actions were clearly poorly thought out, but nothing in them indicates a man who is addicted to anything, nor is he mentally ill...well no more so than any other progressive political type. This is typical of one who is trying as hard as they can to save their own skin. Maybe it's an Emily Post etiquette class? Short of informing the fool that NOTHING online is private, what other lessons need be learned? Can he learn sexting and being married is uncool? Betcha he knew that when he was doing it, no?
Frankly it rings hollow and premeditated to the point of being rote and totally meaningless. Thus far media is reporting this story with little bias and while at first media was torn between the sensationalism and the newsworthiness, now they seem bored with it all and merely report the facts...how refreshing considering Weiner is a card carrying member of the "What, me worry?" class of politicians the media covers for.
But on the flip side of the coin we have the Palin emails...oh goody, goody. I am just so excited...who knew that idiot, Bible thumping Palin could even use a computer, much less figure out how to use email, pray tell? What shall we dub this quandary? Palingate? Emailgate? "Hatefulboredprogressivesandleftwingmediagate?" Hey, nice ring to that one....
So seems Miss Sarah liked the chatter about her being a possible VP choice back in 2008? How positively evil of that wench! How dare she be flattered by such consideration! I don't know 'bout most others but if I were a small state first term governor and anyone seriously mentioned my name as a possible VP candidate, I might crow a bit, especially to friends and confidants...I mean that is why we have friends, right? To share our joys and bolster us if we falter? Or did I miss one of the essential meanings of life somewhere?
Yet according to the left wing press, salivating dogs and assorted minions, Palin is one evil creature. Heck, MSNBC is so excited they've uploaded the entire 24k pages plus to their site. The NY Times and The Washington Post have even hired readers to scour those pages of salacious written words (perhaps hieroglyphs from Palin the Dummy depicting stick figures, moose and Russia, which she can see from her house, don'tcha know) seeking to get the goods on Palin the Evil! Gotta get that "Hockey Mom, Mother Grizzly, Pig in Lipstick" chick.
What is it about this woman that so vexes them? Clearly they are terrified by her, which on it's face is telling. Rush is dead right when he says "Watch the left...they will always tell us who they most fear [in electoral politics]." (paraphrased) But for their incessant seeking out of Palin, she'd have long ago shrunk back to Alaska, perhaps to emerge another day. If they hadn't sent scores of reporters to Alaska after the 2008 election, trying to dig some dirt on her, she would have stayed out her term as governor of Alaska, and might not be the force she has become.
This event demonstrates a trend in progressive politics...the "_________ Derangement Syndrome." It started with Bush but has clearly evolved into a poorly crafted art form, or more accurately, poorly crafted performance art. Oh the misery...Sarah Palin lives! They must enlist all the deranged, unbalanced and otherwise unoccupied to hone their obsession with this succubus. Now we're deeply onto Palin Derangement Syndrome, to likely be closely followed by the new and improved "Republican Nominee" Derangement Syndrome.
Truly when it comes to the left, media and assorted hangers-on, the bottoms to which they are willing to stoop are every bit as yet unmeasurable as are the powers and influence of Sarah Palin. It's as if the Palin obsessed don't see that with their every utterance the rest of us, eyebrow cast askance, think to ourselves "Methinks thou doth protest too much..." (Yes English Lit majors...it's a bastardization of the accurate Bard quote...I know, I know...jeez! Get over it!)
