A guy says he has a spacious 2 bedroom apartment on Capitol Hill in Washington DC for $850. He describes himself as a researcher at the Department of Defense who is working on his Master's at Georgetown University. Plus, he says he loves to read and goes out most weekends. So he sounds like a nice stable guy who is quiet and intelligent.
The ad says he's willing to rent to a male or female roommate but he does have one very specific demand. He keeps a checklist on the bathroom door where he records his bowel movements, and he wants any roommate to do the same. It's described as a simple checklist with each day of the month to fill in your activities. He says you don't have to worry about replacing the checklist because he'll take care of all that. Actually, I don't think that would be the major worry for most people.
If you're wondering how the apartment came on the market, the guy claims that his previous roommate recently moved when his work took him to another city. It all sounds like those stories on 48 Hours where the killer claims his missing victim was talking about moving out west.
By contrast, everything turned out well for a man who tried to auction his 63 year old mother on eBay this week. James Doyan, a 38 year old management consultant living in London, placed the ad to help his mother find love. She had just asked him to sell her dining room table. Doyan praised his mother lavishly as beautiful, smart and "priceless."
You won't find this auction on eBay anymore because they had to pull it for violating their ban on selling human beings but it's still available at Jewish Humor Central. Meanwhile, about 400 people looked at the ad although the highest bid was a lousy £1.60 (USD $2.30). Doyan did say that some of the emails he got were lovely. More importantly, Doyan's mother reported that she found the whole thing hilarious so it hasn't damaged their relationship. So the weird eBay auction ends up much nicer than that weird Craigslist roommate ad.

Glad you balanced an icky and weird with a nice and weird.
too funny! I don't think my mom would respond well if I put her up for bid.
